Re: Power steering pump for a '98 820 with a/con

Thanks for the leads people .... finally got this sorted using a pump from a diesel 25 and found the source of all the original problems; turned out the o-ring inside the pump on the supply pipe elbow was sealing when cold but when warm was worn enough for air to get drawn in/let fluid leak out. Loo...

Re: Power steering pump for a '98 820 with a/con

Getting frustrated looking for a decent pump with the same fittings so tried to repair the original ..... Few internal issues sorted, and discovered standard 0.5mm gasket paper isn't up to the job (not surprisingly). Spurted fluid out in all directions. So, I've bought one of the gaskets from Czech...

Power steering pump for a '98 820 with a/con

As per subject: Has anyone got a decent power steering pump for a 1998 820 they want to sell? Mines working but very noisy .... and it's not a case of bleeding it; it's past that stage :-( The engine's a T-series with aircon so fittings are slightly different to non aircon models, and it needs to ha...

Re: Hello from Bristol thinking of getting an 800 coupe

I've finally had a chance to get an accurate check (fill up, drive 'til near empty, then fill up again) on m.p.g. since fixing all the sensors on the diesel boxed coupe...... I've deliberately only used it for shorter journeys (all under 10 miles, and daily commute is only 3 miles round trip!) yet i...

Re: Body kit for 1986/7 800's

Oh yes .... bro in law had a full bodykit from new on his 825 (I'm talking Honda C25, not KV6)...... everywhere the kit was attached (self tappers, mainly) was rusting within 5 years.

Re: 800 coupe going cheap?

The 2.0 turbo will give you mid to high 20's mpg around town, and on long runs I always got better than 40mpg. Being highly geared and low compression, the turbos hardly boosting at 70mph, hence the good mpg. As for reliability, - the T16 is a lot more reliable than many modern all alloy engines. Mi...

Re: 2.5 sterling saloon V753 FRV

Still £75 of 'free' fuel, even if it had to be used by mixing it by half filling with normal diesel and topping up with the petrol/diesel mix for the next few tankfuls. Petrol would help to stop waxing but I'm not sure how low temp has to drop for modern diesel fuels to wax. I do know if it ever get...

Re: Hello from Bristol thinking of getting an 800 coupe

Get a PG1 gearbox from a 200/400 diesel, swap the speedo drive with the petrol version. Whlst the box is open, swap the diff bearings(the weak point) for steel caged ones, and then bung it in a NASP 2L ........ 60mph = 2,000 rpm in 5th :D

Re: 820 Coolant Pipe(s)

I guess easiest thing would be to find the sensors in a breakers - maybe even someone on this forum has knackered ones which would do the blanking job? As for getting the right part, first time - just don't try and buy exhaust parts, that'd be my advice! I've just ordered a couple of cheap (£11 del...

Re: 820 Coolant Pipe(s)

'98 Coupe 2 L (T16) Nasp manual with air con .... edit - just had a look in Haynes and looks like I've got (and whoever set up the Pixel 1 site also had) a V6 rad which would have coolant and air con switches in the side tank. :( Just once, I'd like to buy a part for an 800 and get the right one, fi...
