Re: 800 Owners Club

Sounds like you're on a bit of a downer? Specifically thinking about your cars, trying to look after multiple cars is hard work. Even worse with older stuff. Personally I would pick the most important one to you and concentrate on that. I've been there before, one good car will make you happier than...

Re: Limo For Sale

I had 2 R registered 827s a few years back.

There's a black limo on Facebook at the minute.

It does make me get slightly nostalgic for limo I owned. No use to me now though and other cars on my wish list above another. But never say never. :)

Re: Jeep talk

I don't do rust. :D I've scrapped many cars in the past for it. I've no idea how many airbags are in the Astra. Lots I would think. The Mondeo was the same. Aside the absolute oldest cars I've owned probably everything I've had has had at least one in them. I've never known anyone personally have a ...

Re: Jeep talk

I know what you mean but I prefer those to rust. :)

I would like larger engines too but that's not the modern way.

New stuff is far more refined for day to day though not cheap. A lot more than £3250. :D

Re: Jeep talk

Too new for me i'm afraid Chris, not that i've got the room or spare funds for it at the moment anyway! You could try putting a For Sale post on : http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/ Good luck with the sale anyway. :D Too new? Firmly set in the past then? I like older stuff but also like new t...

Re: Jeep talk

Anyone want to buy a Jeep? :)

After a lot of thought I've decided I'm going to sell it.

Whether I replace it depends on work, Brexit and other factors are making it a difficult time at the moment.

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe

I'm not an axle stand fan personally, just don't trust them if anything moved.

My favourite trick was to jack up the car and put old wheels (preferably steels) flat on the floor under the wheels on the car.

Or even just blocks of wood like this.

Re: Lancaster insurance

I've just done a couple of quotes for comparison. It does seem to be an expensive car to insure. Are you running the coupe as a main car now? No other cars on the road? Early 90s stuff is cheap through Lancaster but only as a second or more car. I had quotes of £4-500 as a main car and £250 as a sec...

Has the housing been off before?

Be careful with the bolts if not.

Re: Original Rover radio/stereo

Just goes to show I sold up too early.

I remember struggling to sell several complete setups of headunit, changer and cable for £40 a few years ago. How times change.

Incidentally the seller shows up as being in Mansfield which is the next town to me. Small world.

Re: Coupe Drivers side Switchpack

I'm sure someone said a while back that the normal 4/5 door switch packs will work in a coupe if you're struggling to find one?

The rear switches are just blanked off in a coupe.

Re: My old Nightfire Red Coupe is still on Google street view in 2019.

I've noticed an oddball on street view for my house. I live on a corner and it seems my road was updated on street view more recently than the crescent that loops off it. This is the view if you look from the crescent on street view. I estimate this to be from 2009 or 10. I'd have to have a proper t...
