Re: 827 Alternator wanted please!

I know you don’t use Facebook Dave, but a guy called Mark Sutton just posted this. I think it’s ok if I paste it to your post here. Hi my father of 73 has reached that time where he needs to have a sort out of all his spare parts from all the rover 800 sterling he has broken to keep his own car goin...

Re: How many were made?

To add some feeling on Daves rant (positive rant) I can give some light on... nothing. But here goes: My vitesse coupe t16 180bhp (upped boost so probably 215-220bhp plus loads of torque) is very fast between 2k rpm and 4.5K rpm. Very fast. Faster than the old Lexus Gs300 I had and that was a 3litre...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

A yes those are the ones! No I just use my iPhone so thats Probably the reason. The wood, I’ll just cut them with my razor saw and polish of the edge. I think it’s going to be ok. A future plan is to sand down a wood strip to remove the laquer and give it a shot. The mk2 wood is very different from ...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Excellent news. Yes sound deadening really does magic to any car. The 800 has it’s weak spots and if those are sorted it becomes a different car!

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Looking at interior pics they look the same so it’s a bit of a mystery. But I can’t find any pics of interior from a 1990 Sterling or later so maybe that was a year they changed? Can’t open your second link though. Can’t get rid of the ”cookie warning”. Oh and no, there is a recession in the door ca...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Look what I got in the mail yesterday. Almost five weeks to cross the Atlantic Ocean but hopefully it will be worth it. My old knobs were broken off and buttons didn’t stay pressed. Can’t tell if it’s fully working yet but at least the buttons stay in when pressed. The Wood is for the front doors, M...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Good news you've done a work-around, where did you connect in to the system? As for the fuel ECUs, i have a faulty one in the shed (won't recognise the Crank Position Snensor) and have known of a few others that have died. My gut feeling is that the ECU is ok and it's the alternator, hopefully once...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Hopefully you can make some progress on it now Henrik! Had a look at my charging problem today and it looks very much like the alternator, spificially the voltage regulator. It's a relatively new unit but out of guarantee - i say new but it was remanufactured aka reconditioned. As many others have ...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Excellent guide on the colours there Dave, many Thanks! Not a bad idea of the relays being mirrored but I don’t think the answer is that simple. Some of them are just not right. I’ve been tied up today and might be for tomorrow too but Now I have the colours for future reference. At least something ...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Link to diagrams and advice sent by PM Henrik. Wish mine was running perfectly at the moment! Thanks Dave, spotted it. That gives me a good clue what to look for. However, and it's just a note for reference. Looking at this schematic, it doesn't look like in my car. The relays aren't positi...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

I’m starting to think there is some really dodgy wiring in the car. The alarm loom might affect the windows? Nothing seems to be wrong. Relays are ok, wiring is from what I can tell still in place. There isn’t really any plugs going into the relay board, only a number of looms going in. I’ll probabl...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

No success. *The fuses are ok. *The relays are removed and sprayed. And to be honest why should both die at the same time..? Next is to measure from inside the door to see what goes on. Edit. No power comes to the plug. But the motor works when running 12v directly. The relay (that is inside the swi...
