Agreed - I honestly do use eye protection most of the time when doing anything like that; as much as anything because I'm conscious I need to be seen to set a mature and responsible example in front of the kids. Thus I own a pair of goggles and a pair of safety spec's and neither were exactly expens...

All done now - quick and easy if a little disconcerting when the doctor says she's going to use a pin to pull the metal out of the eye  Have to use an antiseptic cream for the next week to kill any infections...means my vision in that eye is cloudy to say the least - no driving for me I guess...

They do have different lemgth necks at the rear. Good point - probably explains why the one on my Mk2 needs one of those alloy spacer blocks between the bar and the hook. Presumably that came about with the "big bumpers" on the Mk1c's? Si - have you had the chance to dig out that turbo intercooler ...

Looking lovely there in that last shot!

Envious of your reconned wheels; mine would benefit from something similar. Homebrewed refurb or did you get a professional to do it?

The saga continues in it's haphazard way. Managed to get something in my eye on Wednesday whilst grinding off the grot with the mini-drill. Although I've been washing the eye in cold water ever since, it's getting redder and more swollen by the hour. Went to the GP this morning and the first thing h...

And taking the opposite approach I try desperately to avoid anything to do with paintwork

This sort of work is very unusual for me, but I'd decided if I didn't do something now I'd have a seriously grotty car soon...

I didn't mean for your paintlines themselves, more where else the paint has gone. On your tyres for example. I have an excuse though...only one roll of masking tape and after the primer's masking had been removed, no paper bigger than A4...until this evening when the free local rag was delivered so...

I think you need some lessons in masking. I did mask properly for the primer and then when it was hard enough went over it with a very fine abrasive pad and feathered the edges in with the original paintwork I'd taken the sheen off. I am planning on letting the blues merge and if it seems subtle en...

Mostly titivating (or rather starting the titivation) of the rear arches this afternoon. Same drill as yesterday with the mini drill and no unpleasant surprises - although I can see the back end of the sills should really be done too, but I don't think I'll be able to do that right now. This one sho...

Robert - I think (but I'm not 100% certain) that any Rover 800 towbar will fit your coupe.

Certainly the one off my old Vit Sport saloon went on my brother's 93 Sterling fastback and the guy I had originally bought it from (on rovertech I think) had taken it off a Mk1 of some description.

Agree it seems a real shame to scrap it given the mileage and apparent rightness of the car. <greed mode> If it does have to be scrapped I would be quite interested in a couple of easy to remove bits if the prices were right - especially the parcel shelf, but also the coolant reservoir, driver's doo...

You can overpaint with any paint.
Cool thanks Rich - I had remembered that Hammerite only seems to thin with their own thinners and cellulose, so I had visions of acyrlic sprays from Halfords blistering or cracking...

This doesn't help you either way, but I personally thought it was the 200ps version that had the more aggressive cams?

If that's not the case, I'll have a pair too please!!!

Dunno if this is helpful (null-byte being a Landie lover can probably be say if I'm talking out of the wrong end), but when I replaced the rings on my wife's old Disco 200 TDi in 2006 I got a set from Britpart and they were nothing like £140. Don't forget Disco's came with the T16 lump too, so Brit...
