Hi Mo Absolutely no idea why I was given the BMW but it really was thrust upon me, I was driving the Mondeo but they said it was unsafe to do so until it was repaired. Here have this 318 to cheer you up! Honestly the car is like a rocket propelled skateboard, rock hard suspension and seats like an o...

Hi Chris
Apparently a lot of companies will insure it, whoever Tesco use don't mind if it's a Cat D, so it's just a change of insurer once it's fixed. Main thing is it's an excuse to use the Sterling for a while once the BMW goes back!

Any news on the job front yet?

Insurance Enlightenment

Just had a "minor" accident which wrote off my 52 Mondeo. No injuries, just two damaged vehicles. Chap in a van pulled straight out in front of me, I managed to stop about 6 inches into the side of it. Right outside a police station and and there was an independent witness, we were both insured, so ...

Still looking for a set of 3 rear head rests in Beige leather with Dark Green piping (mine have blue piping and don't quite match), would consider complete interior if necessary and cheap enough! Let me know if you spot anything in a local breakers. Thanks.

I suppose that's what you buy if you can't appreciate a Vitesse Coupe. Makes my back ache just looking at it!

Towing Dolly

I'm thinking of trying my hand at making one of these as a long ish term project and wondered if there is any advice to be had from the forum. I'd probably buy a set of plans from ebay or elsewhere (plenty around) or even take a spares / repair project on. Any advice, comments, hints and experiences...

Well I finally got my car fixed thanks to the tenacity of one technician at GK Ford in Retford. The previous owner had fitted the wrong injectors in his efforts to sort a minor problem. There was nothing wrong with them as such, they were just the wrong part number. Whatever the difference was betwe...

Mondeo Mk3 TDCI

Just thought I'd enlighten the Forum membership to the delights of common rail diesel ownership! Common rail merely means that all the diesel injectors are fed from one high pressure "common rail" and rely on an electrical firing signal to squirt the diesel into the cylinders at the appropriate time...

Thanks for all the interesting replies. Dollysprint do you have any advice to offer regarding the KV6 engine? Asking you in particular as you seem to be doing a few! When I did mine (Head Gaskets on the Sterling) Rover were still on the go and all the local dealer had on offer was the standard elast...

Foreign ownership

Were the k series 1.8, 1.6 and KV6 (825 version) engines introduced under BMW ownership? Just a thought as these were the units that seem to have been most slated in the press and by the bar room experts. Don't BMW have issues with cylinder heads cracking? Anybody know why BMW didn't put there own e...

Thank you both very much for the info. Way out of my price range for the Western Models cars but you never know, maybe Lledo / Corgi may take up the challenge one day and I'll have one to sit on the shelves! I shall keep my on ebay.

Please Dutchman, pass some information about the model car. I saw one on a Japanese website ages ago but there was no information, I'd love to know who made it. My guess is Western Models as publicity? There was a pewter model Mk2 800 on ebay a while ago which made a lot of cash, never seen one of t...
