Re: Astra Twintops I've Owned So Far

I should update it already. 🙄 Now includes ownership status. All the other cars have been bought purely for the purpose of financial gain so they come and go fairly quickly. There's a sweet spot at the minute of lots of cheap cars but still lots on the road needing the parts. It won't last forever o...

Astra Twintops I've Owned So Far

Along the lines of the thread I did years ago listing the 800s I'd owned. Here's a list of Astra Twintops I've Owned So far. 1 Bought August 2019 £3750 Current car 2008 2.0T Design 37k miles at purchase, 41.5k currently. My own car, quite rare being a 2.0 Turbo petrol. It's high rate road tax so not...

Re: Number 58!

THat looks lovely! Nice saloon! I think maybe the pictures flatter it a bit, though it's not a wreck. It needs lots of TLC yet. Your neighbours will be even more cofused once you've sorted the niggles and are using it Chris! As for being up to your neck in Astras, that sounds painful! Especially if...

Re: Number 58!

Most have moved on mate so a lot will probably think someone's just dumped an old car on the street. 🙄🤣 Honestly at the minute I'm beginning to question my purchase of it. Maybe when I've sorted some of the niggles I'll feel differently. It is surprising how many people are interested in it though. ...

Re: Number 58!

I would say it's possible that all of it needs replacing. I was looking at ball joint prices earlier as may swap the upper, lower and track rod ends on it. Any recommendations on suppliers before I order them off ebay? I was originally thinking of lowering it but the uprated ARB may be the way to go...

Re: Number 58!

Cracking news, Chris. It'll be a nice chance to get your brain whirring again, back on such familiar territory. Something like that. 😁 I've had the all the wheels off and checked the brakes over. Didn't even have to think which tools and what size anything was. Congrats on your new family member Ch...

Re: Number 58!

Dave - I'll give it some thought once I've actually used the car a bit and made the decision I'm keeping it. My wife says I'm just lying to myself claiming I'm going to sell it. Simon - You and me both. Impulse purchase as it was cheap mainly. No parts left whatsoever. TBH I'm not looking to spend b...

Re: Number 58!

I'm potentially interested if you do have any bars, cost depending. This is going to be a 4th car if I keep it so I'm not looking to chuck loads at it. My dad always preferred the autos, this being a manual was the only thing that made me think twice. I think the engine feels more alive with a manua...

Re: Number 58!

I hadn't thought about the roll bars. Doubt any Vitesse Sport ones are around now? In my experience the 827i was the most common for being a manual. I had at least two I can remember back in the day. One of which that was near identical to this. If I am going to keep it I'll look at sorting the susp...

Number 58!

Hello all, it's been a while again. Hope you're all surviving? So as the title suggests, completely out of the blue I've bought another 800. Hard to believe its been 9 years since I sold up. I honestly had no plans to buy another, of late I've been breaking Astra Twintops as I own one myself. This m...

Hang 0n - it must have been something else! Cos that's nonsense.

Maybe it was HSS 500W ?
Clever either way.

Someone thought about that for a while I think. ? :D

Re: Mildly amusing or not? You decide!

I see a lot of clever ones here and there.

There seems to be a new take on them these days. Not necessarily being car or even name related.

PA57YAA is one from an Astra group member that I think is clever. It reads as PAST YAA just incase it's not obvious.

Re: Thunderbird 2 & The Green Machine

For reference Koni reds can be adjusted if that's what is fitted but I'm sure they need to be removed to do so. It involves turning the damper shaft to adjust the tension from memory. I did run mine in a softer setting briefly but seem to remember that made the handling very odd and floaty, so I alw...
