Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
Funny you should mention that Charles. I needed a seal for the thermo-switch in the rad (for the fan) some time back and discovered that Mini 1.3i fan switches are the same and use the same seal with a different part number and colour. Further digging revealed the XJ40 again uses the same seal with...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
So Dave, just something to note, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blue-Print-Thermostat-With-Seal-Ring-Honda-Accord-CR-V-4WD-CRX-City-Civ-ADH29207/173521735294 This was the part you found on ebay. I looked more closely at the picture. There are the initials stamped NTC and then the temperature of 78. Look...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
That's the one Charles and it also answers your query about the seal. It's all hidden under the throttle body so it's batery and air filter housing out then manipulate yourself with contortionism to get at the 'stat housign. :D Just to get the seal now. You would think things as small as tha...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
Definitely the wrong gasket for the Rover Charles, in the bag i have the 'stat seal i have a cardboard gasket the same as listed on the Aussie site. It is not used on the 827, it's possible there is another vehicle such as the Holden HSV which is another car listed in the application list they give...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
I saw a thermostat gasket on ebay (Australia) to fit the 827. That was oval shaped also. Have you got a link to that one Charles? The Ebay link heading; - THERMOSTAT GASKET TO SUIT ROVER 825 827 2.5lt 2.7lt V6 1987 - 1991 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/THERMOSTAT-GASKET-TO-SUIT-ROVER-825-827-2-5lt-2-7...

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
My car originally came with 205/55-16 as it (used to be) a normal Vitesse 180bhp. In the V5 documents nothing is stated on the load index but that's not strange as the car is imported many years ago. The Swedish tester probably didn't care to put this into the documents. Still fairly certain they h...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
No, the seal to fit your thermostat is circular Charles, always have been on the C-series V6 and nothing has changed! Ignore the oval thing, that's a cardboard gasket and is a generalisation. It isn't even in the same orientation as the 'stat on your engine. That leads me to another question, sound...

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe
Is the load rating different for the coupe because its a heavier car?
I thought the load was 91 ?
Sorry to read your woes Henrik. Hope you get it sorted..and remember to have the tracking done as well.

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
See if you can find the seal (gasket) online Charles, if not give me a shout and meanwhile i'll try to find the ones i have. I know where i have at least one but should have a bag of more somewhere, genuine ones as well if memory serves. Also look for Rover 216/416 1989-95 'stat seals, they're the ...

Re: Lancaster insurance
That's great news Charles, you may find it cheaper but the whole package sounds better than most so perhaps worth paying for. :D As a whole, the proposal is better than what I've currently got. Because there is the option for the agreed valuation I will be able to get the car valued at a fix...

Re: Lancaster insurance
Give Adrian Flux a try Charles, something in your latest post just jogged my memory about someone who was with them on his 800 and had SD&P including commuting to/from a permanent place of work and fairly sure his insurance was nothing like you paid, even when he had a manual 827 Sterling. https://...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
Thanks for this great help Dave. I will be looking around the web, if I can get a cheaper gasket. The gasket on ebay is nearly as much as the stat i paid for :o I did see the same gaskets somewhere else. I looked in case this part didn't have a gasket included. Though I was under the assumption it h...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
I'm not an axle stand fan personally, just don't trust them if anything moved. My favourite trick was to jack up the car and put old wheels (preferably steels) flat on the floor under the wheels on the car. Or even just blocks of wood like this. https://i.postimg.cc/QHMmbL68/DSCF0229.jpg The blocks...
