Re: Arc Welder.

Returning to this subject: When doing a welding job on a car or motorbike, what does one have to disconnect to avoid damaging electronic parts like ECU's and alternators? Is it sufficient just to disconnect the battery?

Re: Arc Welder.

Thanks gentleman, especially for the link to the welding forum, great info for dummies like myself on there. After lots of reading, I have come to the view that, given my skills and experience, I need an Arc Welder like a hole in the head. Probably for me, a gasless Mig is the way to go. What caught...

Arc Welder.

My local Lidl is selling Arc Welders at £39.99. 40-80 Amp single phase. Are these likely to be any good for occasional use, such as welding patches on car exhausts? I have done Mig welding in the past but I know very little about Arc Welding.

Re: My '98 Rover 820 SI Fastback Nightfire

I put up with intermitent window action for a long time. Once I resoldered every single solder joint on the switchpack, the problem went away.

Re: Baroness Thatcher RIP

Back in 1987, I did the Open University course on Social Science. It was pointed out that Margaret Thatcher was very keen on people obeying the law. It was also pointed out that had it not been for the Sufragettes breaking the law, women would not have even had the vote so could not have been admitt...

Re: PC time Clock.

I have changed the battery and things seem back to normal.

I have a spare Compaq PC that has not been online since early January and using this PC now, I am not getting any Popup boxes telling me that threats have been detected so the problem is on my side. Thanks for all the tips.

Re: PC time Clock.

That was an interesting comment. I will try a new battery today and see how it goes. It may be that my motherboard is failing. I resoldered it last year and was amazed when I got something on the screen. I am still getting a small green box pop up telling me that Detected threats are being cleaned. ...

PC time Clock.

My PC time clock on the task bar has started playing up, altering itself to either slower or faster. Its different every time I switch on. Is this likely to be because the mother board battery is the problem? I am using Windows XP.

Re: Forum Problems and Virus Infection

I logged in this morning and have a box popping up in the bottom right hand corner that tells me that "Detected threats are being cleaned" I am using XP and Internet explorer. Is there perhaps something in my browser that needs to be turned on or off?

£850 for a car in that condition is not a bad price.
