Re: New project starting
Trev just stick the chassis number up so I can tell if yours is a Mk1c or a late selling Mk1b.

If it's this one here with the auto to manual conversion http://www.rover800.info/forum/viewtopi ... 15&t=12908 then I'm 99% it's a Mk1c

Re: New project starting
I thought that all 800 alarms used the car horn, not a separate sounder. Could it be an aftermarket one?

Seats
has anyone tried swapping electric seats from a mk2 and putting them in a mk1. My drivers seat is worn but if I can't find a better one I might try swapping them both

Re: New project starting
Yes my Mk1c Sterling now has early Mk2 seats but there were some differences in wiring and the side shroud from the mk1 doesn't quite fit the profile of the mk2 seat, remember the mk2 seat had all the buttons on its side shroud. Having said that you wouldn't notice if I didn't point it out. I seem to remember the seat heater being a problem but can't remember why, the elements didn't work anyway.Post 96 seats are completely different, especially the rears. Finding decent early Mk2 seats ain't easy either.

Re: New project starting
I'm nearly there with getting my car started.my car alarm was going off as soon as I connected the battery up.The car was running a few years ago but then the door was taken off and once it was put back on the alarm has been going off.ive connected the central locking up now so it works and the alarm stays off until I open the door with the key.then I open the door and the alarm goes off.
Remember my car is a mk1 so I don't have a fob
So any ideas
Who wants to step forward and give me that one bit of advice and take all the glory and get my car started

Re: New project starting
My mk1 vitesse has moved on well.with the alarm sorted the car starts now, although after 2 years of being laid up it sounded a tad rough for a bit and filled my garage with smoke, but it's settling down now and the electrics are waking up.now I've got to sort through boxes and plastic tubs of strip off parts and put them back on the car.im not really sure why so much of the car was taken apart and boxed but it's now my job to sort it out.A full re spray will happen in the spring but for now it time to service and check the mechanicals
