Names spence live just outside brum, Been a landrover fan the last few years but had to sell me td5 recently and came across a 827 sterling at the right money 41k and near mint beginning to love driving it, its hard to keep me lead foot at bay :lol:

Hope i aint gonna need the technical help on this site...fingers crossed :lol:

One question i would like to ask is where do you source parts from? The only problem ive found was with the central locking and i traced that to a faulty bonnet switch. I could do with a new switch, was also thinking about putting a normal back box on it but cheapest ive found fitted is £85.

Parts are available from lots of places.

If you want genuine MGRover parts, Rimmer Brothers is possibly one of the best. Or any "X Part" dealer.

For more obscure, rare items which you may need to source used, try your local scrappy.

If you have space, I would recommend that you buy another car and keep that for spares.

Halfords - good for bikes and spray paint. Nothing else.

Honda dealers are good for some 827 mechanical/electrical parts as some bits and pieces were common to the 827 and Honda Legend. Always use "Hondamatic" when topping up or changing the auto fluid. This is from Honda dealers only and is around £14 a litre. Don't use anything else.

I have recently sourced some new parts from France - from two ex Rover dealers near Paris - who seem slow to clear their shelves of dusty stock.

If you are really really stuck for a part, ask me. I don't have anything "for sale" any more as I have disposed of most of my parts over the last 4 months but I do have a lot of Mark 2/827 parts of my own if you are truly in a jam.

Oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, coolant and thermostat all for the 820 costs less than £40!(Last time I bought it all was over a year ago I'll admit, probably closer to £60 now)

Keep us posted on the Sterling, backbox's can be found on ebay for less than £40 posted, cheap aftermarket part that does the job (and is not noisier than OEM), takes less than an hour to fit on the drive.
As for the bonnet switch, just unplug it ;-) Central locking then thinks the bonnet is always shut! Stops the horn sounding every time you lock it until you find a replacement.

The horn doesnt work (broken spades) so didnt have the problem of that sounding :lol: central locking wasnt locking so i disconected the switch.
Theres 2 boxes on ebay one for £35 and one for £43, the cheap one is for the earlier model 2.0 and the other one is for the later 2.0 and 2.7 is there a difference between the two? i know its only £8 but i dont want to be spending what i dont need to. Both boxes look the same.

If by "early" you mean the mark1 (before 1992) then it will be different from the later one (mark 2). Your car is a mk2 so that's the one to go for.
