Hello From Wigan
Hello All
Thank you for letting me join, I have a good friend that is a collector of mainly Rover Sterling's with the 2.5 engine. However we do have other variants. Although my friend owns these vehicles I am one of the main custodians of them due to the nature of his work. He has aimed to get one in every colour produced and has even had three resprayed. He had a green 800 in the mid 90's and in 1999 came the first Sterling and so the love affair was born
We also have an 825SLI Limo as well as a former Hearse that has been converted into a Pickup, both of which are in Black. Alongside these are two MK2's and a MK1 Vitesse which we think has the TWR Body kit but I'm not sure if it has carried this from new is there a way of checking ?
Me and the other chap that helps me with these attended the Pride of Longbridge event in April with an early MK2 Vitesse in Black (J103 MOY) which was Photographed with myself talking to another enthusiast (see pic no.8 on POL Thread) Apologies to whoever was taking the photo you should have told us to shift

My white Mk1 carried the kit straight from the factory to a BAe exec. It's also got the ruched leather and 16" Prestiges. There were a few like this and although the V5 says 820i the key tag from the dealer says Special Edition.

Many thanks for that. Yes, ours has that grill which will be replaced by an original before it goes for paint as well as a few other bits later on this year. I have checked the V5 it says it's a vitesse on there but from looking inside you would think it's an SLI because it seems quite plane to me, although I have a reasonable knowledge of these I'm by no means an expert.

To be honest with you Mercedade we didn't convert it ourselves we actually purchased like that, The photo does it a lot of justice it would benefit from some bodywork and a repaint preferably in a different colour. The actual pick up section at the back is completely chequer plated. It does however have issues with the engine and box, It's a 2.5 which is very smoky on start -up but this does clear after a few minutes and also it sometimes struggles to drive and the "S" comes on even though the button isn't pressed.

welcome mate, i like the white vitesse, but its not a twr bodykit thats for sure, the front bumper and side skirts are different, they look like kamei to me, but not 100%.
found this though, defo same kit
kat bodykit, the front bumper is identical to your vitesse, designed by an ex tickford aerodynamic specialist who left tickford and set up making body kits, the capri one is most known, must say you must have the only one in existence for an 800. never seen another that for sure.

This is the TWR kit.
midnite, that kit on the SD1 doesn't look much like the one on the white one either but I'm guessing there were quite a few kit makers in the 80's and 90's.

i think the design of the bumper with the sections around the fog lights is the same, and its very unusual, the side skirts arnt the same, but its the front design thats similar me thinks.

Thanks for that midnight you may be right, I always knew it was a bit odd because I had previously looked at the TWR kit and thought to myself these are not the same Also looking at that SD1 it looks to me although I am not 100% sure that it has it's "full beam" on in that picture.
I spent ages once trying to find the front fog light on ours switch and to my surprise they were not fog lights at all they are driving lights which only come on with the Full beam being on weather that will help identify it I don't know

tell you another thing though, your side skirts shane look a hell of a lot like richard moss's old met blue sterling side skirts that he put on his, if you search through the 800 pics from the dark ages you will find it, they have those lines on the skirts like yours, so rich would probably know what make they are, if the kit is as rare as i think, you should remove it and put it in a shed for safe keeping.
