Hi All,
Got myself a tatty but remarkably solid 1999 diesel saloon (with the vp37 electronically controlled pump)
Currently going through tidying a few bits, but it is my daily, putting 1500 miles on it a month so I'm not going mental.
I'm sure I'll be back with questions soon enough. Haha

Welcome aboard Billy! Are you attending the show in Peterborough on 7th August? Good place to pick up a few bits and pieces and meet a lot of other owners.
What stuff are you after in terms of tidying the car?

Re: 1999 diesel saloon owner in Scunthorpe
Thanks guys!
Already had it a good few months actually and done a few bits,
New steering rack, abs sensors, glow plug system, brakes all around with caliper rebuild, etc
Still need to do something about the boot not staying open, flappy boot carpet, a cracked headlight, torn drivers seat and worst of all, the paint work, as the previous owner repaid the scabby arches, then painted them with hammerite!

Depending what year yours is, you'll either have normal springs or gas struts to keep the boot open - the latter are easier to change!
Which headlight is cracked and is it just the lens or is the reflector dull as well?
As for the boot carpet, they're all like that! I repaired mine using some normal carpet underlay to stiffen the carpet and about a can of carpet spray - made the car much quieter (less road noise coming from the boot, sounds odd but true!) and the boot seem a bit more luxurious with the thick feel of the carpet.
What colour is yours? Halfrauds do a paint mixing service (about £12 for a 300ml spray can) and you can get the colour code from the plate on the bottom of the passenger side B pillar - it's a three letter code such as GMK, GMN or similar. If it's metallic you'll also nee the gloss lacquer to finish it nicely.
