Newbie with a renewed interest in my Rover

Post by vin76 » Thu Oct 20, 2016 4:19 pm

Hi all,my name is Barry and have finally got some time to sort out my old Rover vitesse and thought I would join( at last) this brilliant forum after speaking with Simon. The Rover is the ex Tony Pond car, long story short, i used to work at Thruxton late ninety's and the Rover was used a fast lap ride car, was then no longer need and left at the back of the workshop and was covered in grass, we cut it out a year or so later and went racing. I've got a few things to do on her then I'm taking it to castle combe and blow the cobwebs off.

Welcome to the forum Barry.

I'm sure there'll be lots of interest in the car here, do you have any recent pictures of it?

Jim (the guy with the green Vitesse) has done a lot of work on that car and has his own website where most of the mods can be viewed and read about.

Be good to see some up to date photos of your beast, the one i put up was back in 2013 when i bought a set of wheels listed on ebay and came to collect them............ :D
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Barry
Welcome to the forum, absolutely delighted to know the car is still around and even better that you plan to get it up and running again.
I spent many hours trying to find information and the whereabouts of your car for suspension tips and ideas and to find out as much as possible about the car in general, never with much luck.
When you are ready to run at Castle Combe please let us know I am sure there are plenty of us that would love to have a good look over your car and to meet you.
This forum is a great place for parts and advice for these rare cars.

Jim

Welcome! I've spent loads of time watching the magic moment when Tony Pond raced Isle of Man. My favourite quote is when he speeds downhill at 150mph narrating the clip with something like: "Coming up towards 150mph... you see there is a point in time when you wonder whether you really ought to be sitting in this car doing this particular stunt..."
