New Mk1 Vitesse owner and forum member
Evening All
Just a brief post to announce myself, I am the very happy owner from Braintree in Essex of a white manual Mk1 827 Vitesse in apparently mint condition. I previously owned a Mk 1 Vitesse many years ago but I got rid of it once the auto box wouldn't get out of second (which spoils the 827 fun when you are keen to make progress), aside from that issue I think I was hooked on Rover from that car onwards. I must of had 6 or 7 75's including two V8's, for some unknown reason I sold my last V8 but I am keen to put that right and add it to what I hope will soon be my new Rover collection.
Looking forward to keeping this one preserved and occasionally used with the help of you clever lot!
Chris

Excellent excellent.I was the last owner before you bought it at the auction.Glad it isn't disappearing of the radar
I so much wanted it to go to a club member or forum member.
One job that might need looking at is possibly the thermostat. The temp is always fairly low so it could have the wrong one in it.
Ask for advice, these guys really know there stuff

If the 'stat is weak the torque converter won't go into lock up mode - the gauges usually sit at the "half past 8/twenty to 9" position.
Standard 'stat is a cool 78C - a "dealer upgrade" when they were new (or standard fit in the rest of the world, why did we get a cool 'stat? ) is the 82C 'stat from an 89-95 216/416 or Civic/Concerto. It's a straight fit, improves warm up, economy, power, emissions and gives more margin for error on the torque converter lock-up. Make sure you order the "kit" version as it will come with a new rubber seal that fits round the edge of the 'stat. The old ones usually crumble when they're removed!
