A member at last!

Post by Roadwork » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:00 am

Hi everybody, pleased to finally be a member.

I'm Chris, and the previous owner of a (probably now dead) 820e Fastback, and hopefully soon the owner of an 825Si.

I'd like to thank Lord Sterling for inviting me aboard, after he found my blog post on how much I miss my 800. (Thread here; http://www.rover800.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6303).

I used to be an active member on the old Yahoo Rover 800 group, I was also a member of the Performance Rover Owners Club. I wonder if I've bumped into any of you guys in a past life?

Thanks for having me.

Welcome on board Chris, great to finally have you here!

Yeh, I posted up a link to your blog about the Rover 820e, a great looking car.

Seen a sneek peek of the 825i in your blog, looks like a nice clean, almost like new car. The KV6 is a lovely car to drive, in fact, I drove a Black 825 KV6 Coupe, its one of the most nicest, relaxing and most memorable cars I've ever driven.

Sadly though the KV6 can also suffer from its well-documented head-gasket problems. Hopefully though, the guys here can help you should you run into any trouble, as with these cars, they can be a bit of a battle sometimes to keep them tip-top (Then again, most cars can be aswell)

Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay mate

Cheers Mo!

Yes, R227NOJ is mint, with something around 50k on her. It's my grandfathers car in Zircon silver, cream cloth with blue piping and a manual box. Lovely car, but at the moment my he's scared to drive it because a cambelt change is overdue.

I've just posted in Technical for some advice on the belt job, if we can complete the job succesfully I'm looking forward to moving out of my oh-so-reliable yet soulless A4 1.8T and back into an 800.

I reckon I'll enjoy this forum, it's useful to have a source of advice when you move in Rover circles!

Thanks again, Chris.

Welcome Chris
50,000 miles is well below a cambelt change on miles but 1998 is well overdue on time  Has it not had a change in its life at all?

If I'm totally honest I don't know. My grandfather has had it for over ten years, I'm sure he would have had it done but he doesn't seem able to remember! I'm sure as an ex Halifax / Lancaster flight engineer he wouldn't let that sort of thing slip...

Or would he?!?

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum! Read your blog post a while ago so it's nice to see that you made it here and are looking to get back behind the wheel of an 800!

Thanks chaps for the warm welcome.

My father just bought a negative scanner, I'll have a look in my big box of historical ephemera in search of more photos, I'm sure I have some somewhere but it was in my pre DSLR, take photos of everything days.

Anyway. I look forward to settling in. I can also change my name to Richard if we're one Chris too many....
