Hi
Hi.
Full name Len Trott, just joined the Forum.
Present car 1999 reg Vitesse Fastback Nightfire Red, purchased last July with 80,000 on clock. This is my third 820 Vitesse but first Sport Spec. My Wife drives 1998 420si Saloon and Daughter drives 2001 25 1.4. I was Workshop foreman in Rover Dealer in Claygate, Surrey for many years until Garage closed down in 1988 (hence my interest in Rovers!) when I left Full-time motor trade and became a Sub Postmaster.
I'm well pleased with my latest toy. My previous Vitesses were fast but I was surprised how much difference the extra 20 bhp Sport Spec engine makes. Still getting to know the car and sorting out a few teething troubles but I'll soon have it as I want it!
One thing puzzles me though; I thought all post 1996 models were fitted with CD-Changers, I've searched everywhere but I cannot find it! I know where it is located on Saloons and Coupes but I can't find where they hide it in the Fastback! I'd be delighted if some kind person could enlighten me!
Cheers for now!

Welcome Len
As Chris says all cd changers were fitted in the right hand rear corner of the boot. If one had been fitted and removed I would have thought you would see evidence of that on the carpeted side cover,2 holes forward and 1 by the rear lamp, plus depressed pile on the carpet itself.
If you just ease that side panel up you may see/feel the cd changer lead behind it. Alternatively remove the radio and look at the connectors, should be 3 horizontal and 1 vertical, top horizontal connector is for the cd.It would certainly have left the factory with one according to all by brochures of the time, so if a former owner never removed it then maybe the supplying dealer by request?
