Rear wheel arch repair sections

Post by SJG » Sat Jul 15, 2017 9:05 pm

I am trying to get rear wheel arch repair panels made but I need some existing sections to get copies made.

If anyone has a car they are breaking that has some decent metal around these sections would you mind cutting them out and sending them to me please?

Thanks

Unfortunately both rear arches on my Vitesse have been cut up by PO to fit 18" wheels. Else I'd have said I can cut them out and send them to you.

Are you looking to get repair sections for the Fastback/Saloon and the Coupé or just one or the other Simon?

Didn't Tom have the arches out of the gold KV6 i broke? If he hasn't used them yet that might be an option?
Cheers,
Dave

I was hoping for all models and was hoping the shape is the same Dave. I spoke to the chap today and he said the fabricator might create a concrete mold and press the pieces. Any advice would be appreciated.

The Coupé is definitely different Simon - it has the recesses for the plastic cladding for a start and i'm fairly sure the sills are a slightly different shape so the bottom end of the arch is likely to be different.

Difficult to tell when looking at one car then the other but i'm sure there are other detail differences.

Would be great if you are able to get wheelarch repair sections made, it would almost be worth buying some sections new if we could find them at a sensible enough price to make the moulds from. Let me rephrase that - if we could find them! :D
Cheers,
Dave

I still have them if anyone wants them. They are not a complete arch though.
Tom.

Hi Simon, I have a MK1 that is going to be broken so the arches on that will be available. Me and Steve have been using a profile combe and it appears Mk1, Mk2 and of course Coupe are all different. Let me know if you are available for a call and I'll give you a ring this week.
My sincere thanks for approaching your fabricator with this one mate.

I'd be very pleased to get some of these too - Mk1 and Mk2

Thanks for your efforts!

Simon - i don't know how helpful this will be, someone is selling a complete, new rear wing for a Mk2 Fastback in Loughborough.

In pursuit of remanufacturing wheel arches it would be a good profile to copy, don't know if you could do a deal with him to perhaps lend (or rent for a small fee) for profile copying?

That's the link to his thread. :D
