WTB: R950 / R960 radio cassette

Hello all,

New to the forum. So I thought I'd start with an ask!

Currently doing a restoration on a 97 Sterling and looking around, the R950 / R960 would be a fairly authentic replacement for what's currently fitted in the dash.

Does anyone have one they've taken out and would want to part with? I may take an accompanying CD changer too if someone just wants to sell the whole system...

Would need to be working and preferably in good condition (cosmetically at least...)

They come up on ebay as pairs occasionally. It's also worth trying some of the specialist Rover breakers. Best of British in darlaston or Rover Spares near Norwich are worth a call.

Cheers. Thanks for that. I did try Bradford Autospares on Ebay but they say they just don't see them anymore. Planning to do some mods to the sound system anyway, but want an "authentic" front end to keep the look of the car. No big speakers mind, just that best that I can squeeze into the existing mountings.

I might have one. If you cannot locate one, post again and I look into my darkest depths! Need to do that in a few days anyway to hook out a oil filter.

Been all over now. Tried Best of British and Rover Spares, tried some of the larger scrap yards/breakers and a few second-hand parts suppliers. They either say they don't see these any more, or they haven't got a clue what an R950/960 looks like...

Not sure about the wiring on other radios to be honest. Looking for something genuine Rover anyway, as I'm trying to do a faithful restoration.

Unfortunately the unit I have spare is an R850 but it does have the security code with it.

Worst luck of all... site had logged me out... requested the password...twice... - nothing received... then I'd exceeded my number of login attempts...
So I've registered as a new user - but it is me, honest. If necessary, I can confirm aspects of my identity given in my previous login account...

I'll take your R960 - what sort of money do you want for it?

Questions though:

1. What sort of condition is it in? Exterior / front panel I'm mainly interested in.
2. Does it all work or is it sold untested?
3. Do you have the radio code for it?

Can I buy your R850 then please? Same questions I suppose:'

1. Cosmetic condition (front panel) - scratches, cracks, etc. or near enough perfect?
2. Does it all work as far as you know?
