Must be catching Richard!   :D

Joking aside i'm sure now i've thought about it that the Mk1s used the same screen wash pump as the Mk2s so it should be possible to find a replacement.

Something i've done on my coupé is to add "mist jets" or "fan jets" as they are also called. For about £7 you get a pair of brand new (branded with another manufacturers name) pair of jets that sit perfectly in the original holes and give a nice fan shaped mist of water in a line about 3-4" above the wiper blades. This means using less washer fluid to get the screen clean and it cleans much more effectively. It also reduces the water that drips in on the window switches if you happen to have your window open while using the washers. This is them :

They seem to be a better shape on the bonnet as well, more like they're "meant to be there" than the OE grey blobs if you see what i mean? They also work out about half the price Rimmers want just for a pair of jets without postage!

Also a useful tip to clean the washer bottle and the washer system is to add a pint of white vinegarto the washer bottle, gets rid of limescale, improves delivery of fluid and is great for cleaning glass anyway! :D
Cheers,
Dave

If you're anywhere near Hook in Hampshire I have an 827 with washers sitting here. Don't have the time to check if the pumps working but if you're stuck and don't mind taking it off yourself it's yours gratis.

Yeah, North of Newcastle I am so thanks xPuffin but Hampshire is a mite far. I have compared pictures on the net with the dead motor I have and have ordered one so with any luck the problem should be solved. I'll let you know.

In what way is the part not correct? I have an idea what it might be and if my idea is right, as long as this one works there's a work-around. :D

Here's a parts diagram of the washer bottle and windscreen and headlight washer pumps - can you identify with the numbers which part you're talking about?

Image

All the washer pumps are a push fit as far as i'm aware, no screw fittings except on the level sensors.

Dave

This is the old pump motor Tracy has got :

Image

Correct me if i'm wrong but the white collar and black surround form the seal/bung/gasket and simply pull off the end of the inlet stub?
Been a long time since i saw a Mk1 washer bottle and have never needed to dismantle one although i pulled a late Mk2 washer pump out a bit more recently.
Cheers,
Dave

I'm glad you found one in the end! Dale is a helpful bloke and an 800 enthusiast. At least it's a brand new bit, purely out of interest have you got a part number for it so we can have a look and work out if we had suggested the right bits?

Dave

I haven't got the part number at the mo but it'll be on the box when it arrives so I'll post it then.
