Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Tracy (Dajazar) managed to source one, can't remember where from though. Might be an idea to send a PM about it asking where it was found?

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Ah, whilst we are on the subject I`m gonna want one too but for a Mk2
other then that I`ll have to switch the front and rear washers over for now

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
This should do the trick as i don't think you can swap them - electrical connectors won't connect for a start :deano wrote:Ah, whilst we are on the subject I`m gonna want one too but for a Mk2

Bought one last year for my Coupé but haven't fitted it yet - part numbers checked out at the time on Rimmers though.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Cheers Dave .
So you think the 2 seperate pumps would be different ?
Need to remove front bumper first and have a proper look.
Gotta do new bonnet cables through the same wing so will do them at the same time.
Thought at worst case , could switch the 2 pipes over and label the rear wiper switch as washers.... just for Mot purposes.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
I'm 99% certain the front and rear pumps are different Dean - the one i linked to does saloons and coupés and the front of fastbacks.
You could do that trick for the MoT but you'll probably get fed up having to hit a separate button soon after and buy a new pimp anyway.
Is the output from the pump completely dead or is there a blockage somewhere? Could be you need new jets instead.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
No noise from the front pump at all.
Clearly noise from the rear pump.
So either failed pump or dodgy electrical connectors , we shall see.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Going from memory, it's indicators and headlamps out then there are 4 x 17mm headed bolts (2 each side) that hold the main bumper armature/crash bar to the car - undo theses and it slides off forwards.
Be careful as there are often shims between the brackets and bumper, sometimes a different amount each side to make sure the bumper sits straight on the car. Once the bolts are loose these can be removed by sliding them out so can be put safely somewhere until reassembly.
It's not heavy as such but because of the size and shape of it, it's easier with 2 people especially if it's windy!
Refitting? Haynes* it!
Don't think i've forgotten anything, apologies if so!
* Haynes it - originally used by VTB as the short version of "Refitting is the reversal of the removal procedure" as used extensively in Haynes manuals.

Headlights out.... hmmm hope the top bolts aren't too rusty.
I remember having to hacksaw the bolts off once before
I think they only have screw heads on them.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
I've never had a problem with the top screws on the headlamps - some WD40 or similar and a good #3 Pozidriv screwdriver and they shift fairly easily.
That said i've usually put a smear of copper grease or smilar on the threads when refitting just to make sure!

Been there a few times.deano wrote:Headlights out.... hmmm hope the top bolts aren't too rusty.

A grinder is not a good idea as I found out, the bracket doesn't like that much heat.
As for the bumper there's also the arch liners to take into account.
Plus don't forget the wiring to the AC sensor and foglights.

Possibly more I've forgot too. Been 5 years + since I touched the front of an 800.
