That's the one - as you can see the plugs are different on the front and rear pumps.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Two bolts just under the headlights, 3/8th drive ratchet and a deep reach so you DON'T have to take the headlights out. (on a Mk2 anyway)
Then the wheelarch liner, crawl underneath and check for self tappers or woodscrews holding the plastic undertrays to the bumper!
Fog lights, Outside air temp sensor and a spare pair of hands.
The little clips will either stay in the mountings or come out with the bumper.
One of those once you've done it once it's a 5 minute job the second time around.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
If the bolts are under the headlights how do you take them out without removing the headlamp itself ?
I see no gap to get any tool between headlght and bumper

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Ok , spent an hour or so fiddling about with the washer bottle tonight.
Didn't bother removing lights or bumper.
There is a panel under the washer bottle , 3 screws and a bolt and it's off...
From here you can disconnect the wiring and the pipes and even prise the pumps out.
However , not being sure what I was dealing with I took the long route and removed the whole thing.
3 further bolts , wheelarch liner , top filler tube, the full monty.
It has 2 pumps one red connetor and one black , there are totally the same the connectors fit both either way. Just colour coded so you don't end up with a wet rear screen when you thought you were clearing the front windscreen.
Having crossed checked them one pump in deffo dead.
Having removed the reservoir I will now be giving it a good bleaching inside before refit.
Gotta do the bonnet cables aswell which run inside the wing with several ties and clips on.

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
Extra strength denture cleaning tablets Dean - bleach will attack the plastic of the washer bottle.
Use hot water, preferably put the washer bottle in a bowl or something overnight with water as hot as you can get and add half a dozen or more high strength denture tablets. Seriously it works well!
I used them on an expansion tank and it came up like it had just left the Volvo factory despite being thick with gunge to start with.
Alternatively white vinegar works well but i tend to add a pint of it instead of screenwash to remove limescale from the entire system and it also works as a great glass cleaner. The one slight drawback is your car smells like a chip shop for a while when you use the screenwash.
Are you going for the washer jet upgrade as well?

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
oops, too late..
Soaked it in a bucket of hot water and bleach for a couple of hours today.
It worked wonders , came up like new
Think the jets are ok for now.
Got too many other jobs to get done first
I found these replacement pumps

Re: Wanted - mk1 washer motor and fittings
The last two are pretty similar Dean, one front and one back washer motor from a P38 Range Rover or if you prefer, for an 800 Fastback with Land Rover prat numbers.
It seems the 800 parts (same bits, different part number) are NLA but the Land/Range rover bits are still around.
Got me confused!
