Re: SRS ECU for 827 coupe
Today I exchanged all the fuses in Engine bay and in the in-car fusebox.
Also took out the S-fuse for a couple of minutes. However, there are still 12 flashes on the EAT ECU.
I did not have time to change the oil.
Most time was spent at fixing the dreaded SRS-lamp.
From the 820 I had seen that there is multiplug that goes into the backside of the instrument cluster and connects to the SRS-lamp.. This multiplug has 4 Cables, two green, one gray and one purple. I could also see that this Cable set was routed down to the area around the in-car fusebox. Poking around among the yellow cables down there I found the cables that came from the instrument cluster.
I connected the on/of switch cables ( yellow and gren)of my 7-seconds relay to the grey Cable from the instrument cluster. I then connected the Power supply Cables ( red and white) to the positive and negative cables of my stereo, thereby having the relay governed by the ignition.
After some fiddling the SRS-lamp lighted up and the went out after 7 seconds. Save for other possible issues I now hope to go through the MOT-test later this month without problems.
For me the advantage with this procedure is that I did not have to remove the fascia and instrument cluster.
Next issue is the gearbox problem.
Cheers
Gunnar

Good news on the SRS work around for the MoT Gunnar!
Out of interest, how are you checking the oil level in the gearbox? Might sound like a strange/silly question but it's an unusual method for the 827 and some people don't know it, usually resulting in incorrect levels.
Fairly sure i explained the method to you some time back but just wanted to double-check as incirrect fluid level in the gearbox might cause it as well.

Re: SRS ECU for 827 coupe
Hi Dave !
If you ask a non Rover 827 owner how you check the level in an automatic gearbox they will tell you that you check with the engine running. However, the Honda box is not a normal autobox, its more of a manual box but assisted by electronics.
So, I do as described in the Haynes manual, warm up the oil, stop engine, wait for a minute and check.
Cheers

Spot-on Gunnar! Strangely the Rover WSM suggests checking it running but the handbook (Rover one) and Haynes both explain the correct method which i've had confirmed to me by other sources including an independent Honda specialist and as you know, the 827 uses a Honda engine and box.
