WANTED. GOOD CONDITION 825D
Hi folks, been a while since I've been on here as it's been a bit mad getting back to work after my op but things are settling down so hopefully can spend a bit more time lurking on here.
Anyway, I'm feeling the need for an old diesel 800 to use on a daily basis and was hoping that someone may have the inside line to a good one. Obviously the budgets there for the right car, I'm not interested in a tired old beast as I really can't spare the time getting it up to a good standard.
Jez

Re: WANTED. GOOD CONDITION 825D
Good to see you back Jez, hope the neck is ok now?
As for an 825D or SD/Turbo, there are very few, if any, left! Those that are still here will either be absolute mingers or absolute minters - the former you don't want to buy, the latter the owners won't want to sell!
Unless you've very lucky!
The big question is why do you suddenly need/want an 825 diesel? Ebay would be a possible source but you and i both know cars on ebay can be a gamble and if you want a known good one probably not the wisest choice.
I think your biggest problem will actually be finding an 825 diesel regardless of condition!

Yeah, saw that and was tempted but the timeframe was wrong and I'd rather wait for a better one.

Re: WANTED. GOOD CONDITION 825D
Hi Dave. Nicks still a bit ropey but I had to go back to work as I'd spent all my money on toys. I like the idea that Rover (as always) were ahead of the game but still managed to drop the ball. I understand the 800D was the first oil burner to be capable of 100 mph which is no mean feat and it's a car that I would like to add to the ones that I already have. Still driving the Gold saloon which was the first candidate for a head gasket change and 14k in its still not using a drop of oil or water so as long as you respect these old cars and understand their weaknesses they are so useable as a daily driver and great fun as well as a lovely place to be.(Sold the Rover 75 260 as it was uninspiring to say the least)scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2017 10:03 pmGood to see you back Jez, hope the neck is ok now?

Re: WANTED. GOOD CONDITION 825D
Glad to hear you're on the mend, just be careful with the G-forces from some of the big toys you play with!
The first production saloon car that broke the "Magic Ton" was in fact the SD 2400SD Turbo :
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/ ... car=101794
Almost the same engine but slightly smaller capacity. The 825SD Turbo is a bit quicker at 118mph top whack and has about 30bhp more than the one in the SD1 :
https://www.ultimatespecs.com/car-specs ... Turbo.html
Apparently (from things i noticed while finding those online) the 825 lump is tunable to about 165bhp with a big increase in torque as well. I suspect that unless it's done right you'd be "rolling coal" though!
Something in the back of my mind says i saw an 825 D on ebay some time back with a serpentine drive belt problem, perhaps it's the one Dean was on about? I don't do Faceache so couldn't log in to the 800 group on there to have a look. Only 825 diesel i know of is that one owned by Darren (ToneWheelDude) on here and that's a Coupé commonly known as TARA from the number plate. Doubt he's selling it but he might be persuaded, not seen him on here for a long while so maybe he might be.
I think your best bet is go on all the usual suspects (ebay, autotrader, car & classic etc) do a search for an 800/825 diesel and save it so you get emails when one is listed.

Re: WANTED. GOOD CONDITION 825D
Have you seen this Jez?
http://www.rover800.info/forum/viewtopi ... 147694#top
Sounds like it wants a bit of work in the usual suspect areas (sills etc) but otherwise seems to be reasonably up together.
Possible one to fulfill your desire/need for an 825 diseasel?
