Post by projectxx » Wed Jun 27, 2018 1:08 pm

Hi All,
I'm in pretty desperate need of a seviceable Windscreen Scuttle, I'd consider minor repair req/re paint, just removed mine and after poking about it now looks like the Titanic :( , I intended to repair but...., are Mk2 different?

I'll keep it in mind, thanks. I'm now part way through repairing the existing one

Yes MK1 & MK2 are different and although they are identical in length and overall shape the MK1 has two pillars for the windscreen wipers to rest against.

I'm surprised no-one has made a pattern part for these as there seems to be a demand for them, like the sills.
I suppose I could measure my last new one for size and a sheet metal worker could make them.

If you do that Gordon, can you do the same with a Mk2 scuttle please? Don't forget it's not just a flat piece of metal and there's a couple of compound curves in it. :D
Cheers,
Dave

Incidentally a Mk1 scuttle goes perfectly nicely on a Mk2. The stalks sit invisibly beneath the bonnet edge. Look closely at my V reg pics :)

No, not new. But no rust. Probably a few marks from being lugged from shed to shed, but not a glossy black or anything.
