How much of a hurry are you in for them Adrian? I'm currently remanufacturing some drop links using cold-cure PU but waiting on a flat wod bit at the moment to make a jig and meanwhile stripping the old rubber off, derusting etc so will be about a week before any are ready.

It's a bit £OUCH for a pair of drop links and IMHO the rubber used isn't what it should be, hence them failing quickly and my decision to remanufacture a batch.

I actually bought a pair of those ones you linked to above yesterday, but that doesn't mean I won't be interested in some PU version, as I'm not confident they'll last a long time :)

I'll keep you posted on the progress then Adrian! I'm also looking at an experimental version losing the outer shell of the bush itself - the reason for this is the crush tube is 15mm OD, the ID of the outer shell is 20mm and an OD of 24mm so the rubber is only 2.5mm thick between the crush tube and outer shell. Losing the outer shell and using the eye of the link as the outer shell gives 4.5mm thickness of rubber round the crush tube between it and the outer. Much more compliance to cope with the vibration and twisting of the ARB in respect to the lower arm.

I think it's this lack of compliance on the originals due to the rubber only being 2.5mm thick that eventually causes it to tear and become noisy.

It was me and I still have a load left.
These are the type where the bolt holes line up and not set at 90 degrees. It's been a while since I sold any but it'll be £8.50 a pair including p&p.

I've already grabbed a couple of pairs :)

Figured whilst you're proving yours and seeing how they pan out, it's not going to do any harm getting some in stock.

I actually replaced mine about 2 weeks ago, but it's not got rid of my clonk. As a result, I'm investigating Powerflex purple bushes seeing as it might well be the reaction bar bushes.

Good idea Adrian - although mine were very good on the first couple of journeys, the proving is currently halted because of the sills which are being welded now.

Meanwhile the other thing that has silenced the front end was this :

You will indeed! The critical bits are the new crush tube length and obviously inner/outer diameters as you can't use the original. Also it does have to be the Imperial measurements or could throw other things out.

Both of mine were noisy yet had passed the MoT several years running with only a verbal advisory on the drivers side (the worse one) one year. Very difficult to detect play as it's axial play on the crush tube of the original set up but it soon shows once you take a little of the tension off the through bolt.

It's possible to remove the wishbone from the car, strip it, clean it, rebuild with the new crush tube and bushes and refit in about an hour. You don't even need to remove the wheel either!

Something not in my original post about it is that the second set of bushes were fractionally larger than the first set so i had to use a length of M10 studding and two nuts to pull the new bushes and crush tube in in one go. It's slower than doing an individual bush but you get both done in one go and the crush tube too so it's swings and roundabouts.

I'll add this to my original post as well. :wink: :D

When you say the imperial measurement is important, that relates to the cut length of the crush tube, right? The ID/OD measurements were metric - 12mm and 16mm, so a 2mm wall?

Good point Adrian, the length of the new wishbone crush tube needs to be 6 3/4" as Rover seemed to deliberately use some Imperial measurements. Honda used a completely different arrangement for the bushes on their equivalent component. Strangely they used the same drop links as Rover, the distance between centes on the crush tubes on the drop links is 1 7/8" so it makes for a curious mixture!
The length of the drop link crush tubes is 1 1/8" but that isn't so critical as the wishbone crush tube.
