A small suggestion - the damp passenger side carpet is almost certainly a blocked sunroof drain which is a black rubber tube about 1/2-3/4" diameter behind the kick panel in the A-post. Sometimes the tube down from the sunroof parts company from the final black bit of the drain or the drain just gets blocked so the joint between the downpipe and the drain leaks.

Either way, if you could check and clear this it would be something you could add to the ad to say it's been fixed and was only a minor fault.

Shows you still care about the car, same as what Brad and Steve have both advised.

I did reply the other day but removed it as it went a little too 'in-depth' for a public forum.

Basically decided on an auction format due to time constraints and the fact that I would like it gone sooner rather than later. I know there's a bigger risk of timewasting but I'm prepared to take a chance.

I appreciate the advice Brad and know you're not having a go, money is not the objective with the coupe now (as my honest ad demonstrates). It'll never be worth top dollar and I know this, but surely someone can make use of it before I resort to an engine swap on the other one?

I shall have a look if I get chance this week (I'm all over the country this week, as I type this I'm back in Burnley for the final week, but tomorrow I'm in Exeter and then back up here Thursday/Friday, as well as some time in Swindon somewhen in the middle. Give the sunroof drain thing a go, i could be wrong but it's one of the most common causes of soggy tootsies on 800s in general and my coupe had it on the drivers side when i got it.The other common cause on coupes that i've found is the window isn't quite done up fully but i daresay that could happen on any car!

Had a local chap agree to buy it last night/collect this morning (saw my 'for sale' sign in the window). Still waiting for him to turn up... Ended the auction as he seemed genuine enough.

However I have had another gentleman express interest, negotiations currently underway.

Yes, unfortunately I have become one of those people who says "no sale = scrap", but this is no threat - I was going to scrap next week, but to counterbalance the pricey market we've had recently (there have been so many expensive ones here in the last week) I thought I'd offer this one up for cheap.

Dan - i'm working on similar to Simon but give him and his person first refusal as i've not had any sense out of my contact yet. Don't give up hope and scrap it for a while though, is there anywhere else you could park it for a week or two if the insurance runs out before one or other of the (potential) buyers is able to complete the deal?

This weekend only I'm afraid. I have nowhere else to put it. Unless someone makes a firm offer and cash in my hand by Sunday, then Monday I'll strip (the car, not me) and will phone the scrappy on Tuesday.

I appreciate the sentiments, but it has been on the market for a few weeks now. The only response on car and classic was our very own wind-up merchant on this site and all he wanted was a chat...

Fingers crossed on that then Simon - my potential buyer can't quite round up the readies just now although he's still trying. He's close but not close enough even to make a very close offer at the moment. Hopefully at least one person will come forward to save this from a claustrophobic grave!
