Rover 825 Sterling For Sale 1999

My mom has bought a new car and wants to sell her 1999 Rover Sterling Fastback Petrol 2.5 16v in British racing green.
It has 40,000 ish on the clock but had a new engine installed about 6 years ago and has only done about 10,000 miles since.
It has the usual scrapes and body work needs some love and attention.All receipts are available. All grey leather seats and usual Sterling refinements.
Located in Birmingham. She has had this car from new, bought from Colliers Birmingham.
Still runs well with no apparent problems apart from drivers side window switch.
Has been running most days up to about 3 months ago when she had the new car.
Looking for approx £750.00 ono
It is now garaged as it has been SORN.

Welcome aboard Dave - any chance of getting some pictures on here? People like to see lots of nice, pretty pictures especially when they're buying things.

Being a 1999 registration would (in theory) put it amongst the last off the line, another Dave on here (Dollysprint) has some amazing archive information and could probably tell you how far from the last car it was. I remember from another thread (oddly about a very similar car viewtopic.php?f=15&t=11507&p=116281#p116281) the last VIN ended in 898, the one in the other thread was 878 so 20 from the last off the line.

Good luck with the sale, be nice to see some pics/more information!

Very attractive car with no dashlift, if you trust a 10k kettle, all down to the gasket type on the new engine I guess

Looks very nice indeed. Shame about the front bumper but easy enough fix.

I wonder who,where the new engine was supplied. Was a silver or gold seal engine. Surely worth a punt for someone if it as good as the pictures suggest.

looks pretty good, and with the motor being replaced its great, but like steve says who did the engine, aside from that, i think a fair price as is would be £500, an mot and a compression test maybe more.

Sorry you are correct its a 24v V6 i apologise.

New engine was fitted by Arden Bridge Services just off the A435 by Redditch

We have all the documentation for this replacement and bills

Sorry me again.

I had been mislead by either the garage or my father (no passed away) that a new engine had been installed in this car.

Alot of work was done by Middleton Motor Serives on Gorse Hill Redditch but not a new engine.


A photo of work carried out is attached.

I'm sorry if i misled anyone but this is the impression i had until finding the bill today.

Mom still has all mots and bills relating to the car so if you need any of these i can provide them.

wow now thats a bill, their labour rate is 40 hours x £49 plus vat an hour gives £1980 plus vat, so it took a whole 8hrs a day for 5 days to fix the car. no wonder they build race cars, must be the richest garage in the country.

still makes the car a good buy though with all that work done.
