800 estate ? (but not the stupid Volvo 240 one).
I've always thought the rear end of one of these would work well, similar c-pillar angle and rounded edges. I haven't got round to measuring one yet although there is an avant up the road from me. It would be a Mk2 800 though as the Mk1 is too angular.

I thought it was the SD1 they grafted a Volvo 240 estate back end onto?

There's a lot more info here :

Can't find any reference to an 800 estate, either a concept or prototype car though.
Cheers,
Dave

Interesting articles Dave, I've seen both those SD1 estates at their respective museums, and there's a blue P6 estate as per the above article on ebay at the moment.

I'd have thought an 800 hearse has had ninety percent of the estate treatment already.

That P6 3500S Estoura has been on ebay for quite a while on and off Gaz. They've included the history of the development but in essence it was a Crayford Conversion (also attributed to FLM Panelcraft - i wonder who did it first?) that BL officially sanctioned and was sold exclusively through HR Owens (in Mayfair i believe - in other words you had to be loaded to even think of buying one back then!) to people who wanted a P6 estate.

I really think Rover missed a trick with not making estate versions of the SD1 and 800 for the open market or a saloon SD1 although i did unearth a yellow one on what looked like French plates in aronline.
Cheers,
Dave
