Nope, fraid not, though if you're doing a conversion most PG1/820 bits should fit

Not sure because that era Diesel 'boxes are not uprated versions. I have no idea if the gears will fit the later uprated 'boxes shafts.traineefarmer wrote:I've got a Maestro NASP diesel van box too. Safe to use any 6/4/220 Diesel 'box as I know they will fit.
Is the Gearbox code for the 620Ti 'box W4DTUT?
I plan to use a 8/6/4/220 T16 'box for the bellhousing and a Diesel 'box for 5th so far...
If the 620Ti 'box has the above code then it also has the same 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears as my mystery 'box!

Very interesting!
Though my mystery box did not come from a 620Ti. It has an additional character 'H' to make it a C6DTUTH. 10 points to whoever guesses the mystery vehicle it's from
W4DTUT is a Vitesse box I believe.
I'm near fluent in PG1 gearbox codes now

How do you tell if it's got the updated bearings or is it simply down to the age of the car.
I thought all the Vitesse gearboxes were uprated because of the issues regarding the Tickford.

Can't tell with bearings.gyrobird wrote:How do you tell if it's got the updated bearings or is it simply down to the age of the car.

A 'U' digit in the gearbox code stands for uprated.
These 'boxes have larger bearing journals and are rated for 177 lb/ft
'X' Code is early 220 Tomcat only and is rated for 155 lb/ft and has the type a torsen
Most likely the Tickford turbo used the 'X' rated 'box
Supposedly very early PG1 'boxes with a gold sticker background are made from the factory with steel caged bearings. There is some debate on that however.

Re: Various 800 parts 827 820 mk1 and mk2
The Tickford Turbo didn't have a Torsen Box, neither did any of the 180 Vitesses only the 200ps cars got them. C6 is also the ratios used in the MGF 1.8VVC but thats non torsen too so I'll take a stab at 825 KV6 manual which due to torque did get the type B torsen diff gearbox but I didn't know it used the same ratios as the 620ti. Steve Grogan has a KV6 torsen in his engineering mule 820 Vitesse Coupe, don't know if the sticker is still on it though.

Hi Dusan,
Can you put me down for the brake items please front and rear. I may have a run out to Ragley on Sunday if the weathers good.
What sort of meet it is out of interest, might make a day of it.

10 points to that man !
825 manual indeed, I still have no clue what the 'H' code stands for but it is unique to the 825.
Ah, I wonder if that means the KV6 bolt pattern is similar to the T series? Or did rover do what I'm planning and swap the bellhousing side of the gearbox case.

Re: Various 800 parts 827 820 mk1 and mk2
Blimey now you're asking, I owned a KV6 825 manual and I did change the clutch, think that was 2004 so 12 years ago and I cant remember the bell housing looking anything other than standard PG1. Like the MGF, BRM and L Series diesel I think Rover just had different engine back plates, it would have been the cheaper option. But please don't rely on a 52 year old memory thinking back 12 years to a time when I did enjoy alcohol just a little more than would be deemed healthy!

Thank you very much mate and hope you enjoy having the bigger brakes
For everyone else I will PM you P&P quotes tomorrow with the aim to send items out this week.
