Ebay would have charged a good few quid just for the reserve price to be added to the listing so offering to the forum first for £2800 is probably not that much different to ebay for £3500 after listing, reserve and final value fees have been paid.
Last car i knew about on ebay sold for about £1000 and the fees were about £100 - it's 3 years ish ago now and i can't remember the figures that well.

I know there's a nice Mk2 827SLi going on the bay soon so i might be able to give updated figures on what ebay charge. :D
Cheers,
Dave

I thought Ebay charged 10 per cent on sale price across the board.
I bought a few cars from ebay but never sold one.

They have a different scale for selling cars Dean. I think up to about £1000 they still charge 10% Final Value Fee, they charge a similar amount for putting a reserve on and again, a similar amount to add "Buy it Now" to the listing.
Over £1000 the percentage goes down from 10% but i can't remember how much. Either way the two blokes that invented ebay are now very rich people! Getting richer by the day i should think as well!

eBay Motors Fees

Fees for selling cars and motorcycles are calculated differently. If you’re a car dealer, you may want to consider selling your vehicles using eBay Motors Pro.
Classified Ad Auction-style Fixed price
Insertion fees £13.03 £8.70 £8.70
Optional listing upgrades Gallery plus £2.60 Free Free
Subtitle 43p 43p 43p
Listing designer Free Free Free
Scheduler Free 5p 5p
Buy it now N/A £2.60 N/A
Reserve price N/A £6.95 N/A
Final value fees 0.9% of the final transaction (min. £17.39, max. £30.43).

Doing the "copy & paste" has lost ebays tabulation but you can figure it out - seems i was wrong thinking up to a grand it was still 10% but it soon adds up if you put reserves, Buy It Now etc on there.
Cheers,
Dave

Sorry boys it was offered to anyone on the forum but I had no response.I had trouble loading photos to the forum so posted on eBay so you could all see it.Had a no sale on eBay AGAIN,so spoke to the auction company out of interest, gave him the info and would probably put it in the next auction. Then pow Austin powers found it on another site,so I guess I will go with that. They agree with the price and it's on reserve so let's see what happens
It can only help with future prices of the 800 if my reserve is met

Yes it was offered on the forum as well at a lower price but no one came forward.I had a chat with a classic auction about price and details,he agreed on the price but without me knowing he entered it into the next auction so I've decided to go ahead anyway.
