Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Well that has solved the mystery of the left hand badge in the pics, it's a boot badge from a Mk1 and knowing what the spares came from, it also solves the mystery of the other badge - it's a Mk1 (UK spec) bonnet badge.
If you look at the top of the page you'll see what we call a Mk1 and a similar bonnet badge to the right hand one in the pics. I think somewhere i have some pics of my Mk1 as well, if i can unearth them they will be in colour and show the badge better.
Alternatively you could buy one of those badges (i'm guessing from Dale Charles aka Sterlingfixer?) from the USA and either fit it "as is" to give a bit of "mystery" or you could try transferring the insert.
Those badges are here anyway if you decide you want them.

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
I am pretty confident that the Mk 1 800 were imported into New Zealand direct from the UK fully built up and to UK specs, so I can see no reason why they would put a different Rover badge on the front from that fitted in the UK. The right hand of the two badges looks of a similar size to the bootlid badge (on the left) which leads to me to suspect it might be a bonnet badge from a pre-1995 Rover 200/400 series before they slapped a rather naff looking chrome grille on the front.
Thanks for going to all the trouble of hunting out your badges for me, much appreciated, but I suspect that neither are what I am hunting for - the search goes on!

Do you happen to have a scuttle panel, door seals or a complete exhaust for a mk1?

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
All i can say Pat is it's part of a collection of parts that were meant to be all 800 (early 820 and very late 825 KV6) and as the later KV6 beasts had the grille with the small badge, that only really leaves the Mk1/early 820 as the donor for the badges.
All the other parts i have relate mainly to the Mk1 820 or late 825KV6 and as you can see, they were bagged up with several other parts which in fact include the late "800" bootlid badge from the KV6 powered Sterling.
Postage costs range from £6.55 to £13.95 (although i'd have to confirm the weight but sure it's under the limit for those prices) depending on the service (economy, through to tracked and signed for) if you change your mind.

In a word James, no. If the door seals are the same as Mk2 seals then have a word with Dusan :guru wrote:Do you happen to have a scuttle panel, door seals or a complete exhaust for a mk1?

He also has a scuttle but it's obviously a Mk2 item and a stainless Vitesse exhaust system (think it's a 3" bore).

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Bit of an update/bump to this thread! The garage is now empty but the parts etc are still here!
As such most will be offered cheaply, mainly because i need the space! Here's a brief list of what's now available :
Rough drivers front wing (white gold 2, rusty around the arch but not holed)
Nightfire wing (will have to check what side)
Pair of coupé doors in BRG, pretty much bare doors, no deep scratches but a few minor scratches/scuffs
Complete Coupé sunroof assembly
Complete 4/5 door sunroof assembly
Mk2 827 Reconditioned Steering rack, still in the box
A few sets of rear lights
A few headlamp pairs
Some radiator hoses
827 thermostat housing complete with the rest that bolts onto the engine
A few door handles, not sure which are left but can check if needed
Fuel sender units
827 starter motors
Pair of coupé rear 1/4 glass panels
Rear caliper - looks new, not sure which side it is
Some Climate Control Packs
827 A/C compressor - may fit some 2.0 models with a different bracket apparently
827 ignitors
Maybe a few other parts, will check on request for something specific.
I'll be listing most of this stuff on ebay soon, if the item you want is listed on ebay, message me on here and i'm sure we can do a deal as i won't have to pay ebay fees etc.

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Is this all Mk2 stuff, Dave?
Might be interested in a sunroof glass if available?

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Most of it is Mk2 stuff Mark, the only Mk1 bits are literally odds and ends that i haven't really found yet.
Did you want the complete Mk2 sunroof? Glass panel, frame, motor, visor/blind etc as it came from the car? It's from a V reg 825 that i broke for spares if so.
PS - if things go according to plan i might even be able to help with delivery on thursday, hoping to be down your neck of the woods to collect a couple of bits for my Volvo so might be able to do the two birds, one stone thing.

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Hmm let me have a think about that, Dave.
Basically the vinyl edging on the nordic car's sunroof glass (manual mechanism) is lifting and causing bit of wind noise >60mph or so. Sticking it back down again is expected to be pretty hit and miss, as is applying a new edging, hence the idea of fitting a replacement glass panel. Not sure if I'd be able to do anything with the rest of the set.
The other thought I have about the wind noise is I feel the mechanism has the glass very slightly proud of the roof when in its parked position, which would prob come down to tweaking the movement gear a bit?
You're welcome to pop by if you are in the area anyway and have a nose over the cars...

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
If it's any help, the price will be the same Mark - you get more spares in return for me not having to strip the thing down!
Also with reference to your wind noise (from the sunroof, not you personally!) first question is when did you last rub silicone grease into the rubber sunroof seal? It's a service operation once a year and keeps the seal supple, prevents it drying out and shrinking so it seals better. If it's not been done for a while, do it once a month for the first two months, then again two months later, two months after (we're now up to 6 months from the start), three months later then three months after that then back to yearly.
The panel should be slightly proud at one end, here's the adjustment procedure from the Rover WSM :
Whereabouts in London are you Mark? If you PM me your address it would be nice to pop round and see your fleet in the flesh and put a face to a name, thanks!

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Hi Dave,
I would be interested in having a spare igniter unit - they seem to be a horrific price at Rimmers these days. Rimmers quote two different part numbers ( at very different prices) but the dates quoted don't make sense, and the chassis number don't help much either. It would be for my Mk 1 827 (1988). I think the KV6 engine used a different system? Let me know how much you want plus postage to New Zealand.
best wishes
Adrian

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Hi Adrian, have you got a part number for the one on your car? I've got several with different part numbers, some are interchangeable and i think others aren't. How does £15 + P&P sound?
The KV6 does indeed use a different system, it's all done from the MEMS unit.

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Hi Dave,
I think I still have the old one somewhere, I replaced it with one out of a Mk 2, which seems to work OK, I will get back to you with a number if I can find it. Price plus postage sounds fine!
regards
Adrian
