Definite result - you can sit in the deck chairs and admire the new wing!
Every so often Rimmers sell of wings and doors for the Coupé at bargain prices - usually £50 each but obviously P&P on top. I missed the last lot, not sure how many of anything they have left now.
Trouble is they always seem to do it just before my pay-day!

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Thanks Dave - no problem, I have an airbag version in grey and I am handy with the vinyl spray paint so know I can do a decent job on the beige one currently fitted - I can't yet decide what the best solution is (for me) - I have an excellent Bury hands free phone kit, but where it was attached originally doesn't really suit and I am trying to think of how to get the optimum placement...... just one of those things that bug us all and takes a disproportionate amount of time.....scoobyh123 wrote:Sadly not Ian - closest i've got is an airbag dash in Stone Beige for a saloon/fastback. It's a good one in excellent condition with no lift but that doesn't really help you.soundrediscover wrote:Do you have a non airbag dash in grey?
The only grey, non-airbag dash i've ever had wasn't worth saving, it had lifted almost everywhere and some clever person had tried to resecure it with huge ( and i mean HUGE!) self-tappers. It also had what i call pick marks as if a young kid had been picking at it and made holes in it.
Rock On!

Hi,
I am trying to find a good undamaged bonnet badge for my 1989 Rover 827. Anything like it your box of Mk 1 bits?

I'll have a look for you Pat, fairly sure i've seen some badges one of which is a fastback tailgate badge but think there are one or two more there.

Either of them look right to you Pat? I'd guess the right hand one, slightly curved on the back with the ROVER name at the top, not sure what the other one is from though - perhaps a Montego?

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
I don't think any Montegos had an actual Rover badge on them. They had the Austin Rover chevrons, then a badge that was the same shape as the Rover one, but with something like a cross on it.

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
I think you're right Tom - long time since i last looked at a Montego badge! Seen a few in the meantime but the last i properly looked at would have been about 18 years ago when i dropped the M-Series from my dead (rotten front subframe) 820SLi into by over-cooked/boiled Montego and turned it into a Porsche-eater!
Haven't a clue what the larger, flatter badge is from - maybe a late KV6 powered car or something. I suppose it could have been a boot badge from an early Mk1 as well.

Re: Garage Clearout of 800 Spares
Thanks for the photo of the badges. The left hand (more squarish) one is the same as my bootlid badge, not sure what the right hand one is from.
My existing (damaged) bonnet badge is the same squared off shape as the left hand one, but with ROVER above the Viking ship, and is bigger than the bootlid badge. Actually my badge insert is undamaged but the "chromed" plastic backing and surround has a large chunk missing. With a bit of care I could probably transfer the existing insert into a whole undamaged surround (if I could find one!)
I notice that there is a guy in America selling Sterling bonnet badges on ebay, so if all else fails I could try using one of those, but they are not cheap. and it seems a shame to spoil them.
