It's probably the price Chris - most people will see it as "just another trailer" and not recognise the effort etc that has gone into building it.
Possibly, I wonder if people are scared of not knowing if it's safe/legal more than anything?

Plus the fact that there are few Mk1 800s on the road so it narrows the market a tad.
Fair point, I don't see it as being limited by that though? Yes it's more impressive being towed by a MK1 but it gets the same attention wherever I take it behind any car. I was hoping someone would use it as a camping trailer as I have rather than getting tied down to needing a specific car to tow it.

To be fair Chris it could be used as almost any sort of trailer that you'd buy a trailer with that kind of footprint for - camping, shifting rubbish to the dump, picking up Great-Aunt Maudes new Twin-Tub and Spin Dryer from Rumbelows, bringing home all the wood etc for the latest DIY project, the list is probably very long.

However i think Gordon may have a point, people who own something different probably wouldn't want it as it wouldn't match their car.

I wonder if relisting it with a lower start price and a reserve of the least you'd take for it would attract more interest?
Could be also that ebay is slower than a tortoise with arthritis and a missing leg. I listed a two piece suite (sofa and armchair, sofa reclines) 3 days ago and i've had the grand total of guess how many views so far?

Go on, guess?

23! Twenty-poxy-three views over 3 days! It was only 16 before i took the hound out so at least it seems to be getting a bit livelier but even so!

All the kids are off school at the moment so the rich parents are in far-flung places and the not so rich closer to home while the really skint parents have gone to "Fairlawns" in "Fairback" gardens! :P

Doesn't leave a target-rich ebay audience for your trailer or my sofa! I suppose we could do some sort of deal between us - you give the sofa away free with your trailer for £500 or Best Offer and i'll give your trailer away free with my sofa for £500 or Best Offer. :D

Dave

Rumbelows? Showing your age now. :D

My dad worked for them back in the early 80s.

Fair points on the trailer, I have now had one enquiry but nothing has come of it.

Er indoors says I should keep it.

Thing is I have no need for it now. Any suggestions on a new use for it?

Rumbelows were the only ones i could think of that still sold twin-tubs up to the point they went bust - or at least i'm pretty sure they did anyway. Either way, they were "of that time" when the trailer was still a new car so thinking along the lines of a nostalgia-based sale perhaps.

Maybe " 'er indoors" has secretly decided she prefers camping to caravanning and hasn't had the heart to tell you yet - that's why she wants you to keep it!

I suppose you could put a self-contained fountain illumintaed by colour changing LEDs of course in the back of it and use it as a novelty garden feature or perhaps an unusual design of cold frame for growing cucumbers.
Alternatively a small shed of sorts, safe-place for parcels, mobile disco - just a few oddball ideas! :D

Dave

With you, no idea on twin tubs. My dad always worked with TV and audio stuff mostly. Could explain a lot? :D

I may not know much about women but I can assure it's definitely not that. :D She says I'll miss it and will regret it afterwards with the history it has from my dad. She could be right but I think it will just end up sat there rotting so someone may as well use it?

If I had a bigger backyard with better access I would seriously consider something like that as a feature, we have a water feature already. :D

The parcel idea is worth considering, not sure on the rest.

It has made me think of something else though. Hmmm. :D

It was all about the ideas Chris, even if something just jogs the brain cell into activity.

A really silly thought occurred to me just now - park it next to your front door and have a system rigged so when someone rings your doorbell, the hatch opens up lifting a monster dummy into the sitting position and a voice plays along the lines of "Welcome.....................i've been...............expecting you!"

Would certainly be good fun at Halloween but the novelty may wear a bit thin by Easter!  :D

What if they're two people, one ringing the bell and the other happens to be having a look in the rear, get bumped in the chin :P

I'm one of the watchers on eBay, but the two headed Rover is getting my full attention so can't really justify spending the money on the trailer, i'm sure i could mount a tow hitch on the existing front cross frame, as i've left that in.. But i really need and want to get it finished.

I hadn't planned to sell it before getting the caravan.

There's been a lot of people view it (7200 at present) but so far I've had only one person make an offer in the last few days.

I'm loosely in talks with him over a possible deal.

Not trying to put you on the spot here. I've seriously considered removing the more valuable parts off the trailer such as the hitch as I could use that elsewhere. Assuming I took off these bits but in no way left it unsafe would you be interested in the trailer if the price was reduced? If so, at what price would you be happy with?

At least that way it go on creating a sight along with your car. :D

You can PM me if you'd prefer. :)

Go on Andy, you know you want to! Not only that it makes sense to have a matching trailer with a double-headed 827 - in fact it gives me an idea for a trailer project too.
Don't know why i didn't think of this one before in fact!

That aside i'm sure you and Chris can sort something out. :D

Back on now, after a huge faff with a complete numpty who had actually paid for it I ended up having to refund him because he can't read properly.

Try again.

Did he think he was getting a complete car or did he not read the bit about "No Paypal, cash on collection only"?

Without writing a huge essay about it, basically he'd been messaging me for a week or more about the trailer.

After trying to knock me down far lower than I intended I said no and decided to remove the more valuable bits and try again as said above.

Without reading correctly the revised auction he bought it. Then started asking questions about all the bits I'd taken off. So in the end it was easier to give him his money back.

They live among us! :D
