Incredibly comprehensive and honest advert Ryan, I hope you get a genuine buyer and your money back for the old girl.
Good luck with the tickford.

Re: My 827
Totally agree with what Steve said about the advert Ryan but would also like to add that you have a very good colour there to sell.
Personally it's the one big thing that puts me off the car (got a thing about never having another red car as only ever had bad luck except with a red Audi - long story!) but for many the "best colour there is" just happens to be Nightfire Red.
It does look to be a nice car and i'm sure will give someone many years of trouble free service, providing they look after it the way it has been until now.
Good luck with the sale and also the Tickford!

Re: My 827
cheers guys, had a bit of interest already. Not really fussed about the money (within reason) I just want it to go to a good home. I'm always as honest as possible on my listings, I know what it's like to go and pick a car up to find that it's not as described. Whats the point of trying to lie?

Re: My 827
I hope it sold to a genuine enthusiast Ryan, this thread kind of got forgotten because there was no more movement on it since auction end.
I know what it's like picking an ebay car up and finding it not quite as the seller described. For example, the Jeep i bought recently - allegedly he'd had a steering fault repaired and even showed me a receipt (which mysteriously disappeared between buying it and getting home) but it turned out the steering box was knackered, had the wrong bolts in and as a result of the wrong bolts had damaged the chassis rails! Drove back from Portsmouth to Suffolk with half a turn on the steering wheel before anything happened! Let's just say it was "interesting"!
Obviously i've welded the chassis back together, replaced the steering box/bolts and i also made and fitted 2.0mm thick chassis reinforcement plates. Aftermarket plates can be bought (obviously a common fault) but not only are they thinner at 1.6mm but cost £166 more than the £20 i paid for the big sheet of 2.0mm steel plate!
Admittedly i didn't pay top dollar for it but then the ad was pretty dismal and he hadn't even washed it before taking the pics for the listing! It was also cheaper because it had a short MoT which i'm in the process of sorting so i can use it over the forthcoming Ice Age aka winter. After that, who knows?
All that said, i doubt anyone could level a similar accusation at you as you were brutally honest in your listing. Then again a Povo-spec 827i is definitely a niche market car but a good car nonetheless.
It's sad a lot classic insurers don't recognise the fact that just because it's not a Sterling, coupe or Vitesse, it's still a classic. After all, it's the same mechanically as my Sterling and coupe. So they have the extra toys and the Sterling badge but yours is still an 827 which i think they should realise. Same goes for the 820 variants and to a lesser degree the 825 (both in KV6 and VM guises) although the original 825 Honda powered car is usually accepted as a classic as it's 30 years old or very nearly so gets "Grandfather Rights" to classic insurance.
We could get into a big debate about what makes a car a classic but with things like the new Beetle allegedly having classic status there has to be a line drawn somewhere!
I'm glad you sold it anyway, you now have a full compliment of Mk1s which will help in terms of spares storage if nothing else!

Re: My 827
Luckily it has gone to an enthusiast, he's already got a very nice 820 Sterling and the 827 is going to be a bit of a project. It's a nice car but without selling it I wouldn't have been able to take on the Tickford which to me, is much more important. I'm sure I will have another Mk2 at some point (ideally i'd like to replace my Mondeo with a nice 820 to use as my everydayer) but for now I've got plenty to be getting on with the two Mk1's

Certainly sounds like you made the best choice for all concerned! Is the buyer a member on here?

Not yet, I did point him in the right direction though so hopefully he'll be making an appearance shortly
