Headlights are intermittent, will get the relays out next week. has anyone taken the engine bay fuse box out and re soldered that or isn't it necessary.
Good point on the shox are mk 2 the same as on the mk1.
Sorry for the ignorance I'm quite new to the minutiae on the 800 as of yet.

The engine bay fusebox is basically nuts and bolts - lift the lid and you should see what i mean. Although it has normal blade fuses in as well as the fusible links, these are literally in the end of the connectors on the wiring that goes to the fusebox. In other words, no soldering is necessary in the underbonnet fusebox although taking the fuses and relays out and refitting them a few times would clean the contacts and possibly sort the headlamps. That said it sounds more like a switch problem - i'm guessing you have the "flat" stalks ni the steering column?

The shocks on the Mk2 are different, i think some people have retro-fitted Mk2 shocks to Mk1 cars but i can't remember how. No worries on the ignorance, the real ignorant bit would be not asking questions! :wink: :D

Yeah flat stalks.
I guess I'll have to strip those down then. The list gets longer lol.
Good job I have an understanding wife as this car brings the total number of cars to 18!!!!
Regarding the fuse box relays are they a blade fit like the fuses, I tried to remove the headlight one and it wouldn't budge so rather than force it I thought I'd wait for the good old Haynes manual I ordered to arrive :D

Sometimes if you squirt some switch cleaner in the slot on the top of the stalk and operate the light switch back and forth you can revive them. They suffer a lot from dust getting inside because of the slot. Worth a try before spending ages stripping and rebuilding them.

As for the fusebox relays, yes but don't mix the green and yellow ones up otherwise best case some things won't work, worst case - all hell will break loose under the bonnet!

I know someome who stripped a Mk1 827 Vitesse last year, he may have a spare pair of column stalks, i'll ask him.

Nice collection of cars you have there although i would question the 1994 Fiesta! :lol:
Have i read that right, a 1.0 turbo Corsa? :shock:

I like the Fiesta, one owner 22k, it's like new. I had one years back and just couldn't resist it. Mark my words, when the mk2s get expensive..................
The Corsas my to work car. Yes a 3 pot turbo putting out 125bhp and giving 60mpg :shock:
Boring as hell to drive though.

It worked for me many moons ago on my Mk1 820Si :wink: :D

That Fiesta sounds like an investment for sure, pretty soon it will attract the "Blue Oval Tax" and suddenly be worth ten times what you paid for it!

When you said Corsa Turbo, i thought it might have been a mega-rare COutenay Turbo conversion. Most of those were late 80's/early 90s and were either Nova 1.6 GT/E or Manta 2.0 GT/E turbo conversions, both massive performers and they had the brakes and suspension etc sorted to match. They did a few "bespoke" turbo conversions on things like the Manta 1.8 GT/J, Cavaliers, Carltons etc but their main line of conversions was the Manta and the Nova which of course later became the Corsa.

I suppose it's a 3 pot Suzuki engine like the old Agila used with a turbo hung on it to give the extra oomph?

blimey, there`s a few proper classics in that list

are they all roadworthy ?

got a big yard to keep them in... or maybe a aircraft hanger ;)

dunno how you find the time for them all....

Time is a big problem, i struggle with 3 sometimes and mine are mostly up together give or take routine servicing/repairs and a few upgrade/improvement jobs to do.

I love my cars :D
No kids and plenty of room, time wise it certainly keeps me occupied.
5 need restoration, the Porsches, Ferrari and Maserati are tucked up for the winter, the rest are used as often as I can.
Very excited to get the Sterling back to health with only a teeny tiny budget which means it's all down to me. ( he says dusting of his Tig welder)
