Post 1996 820i wheel trims and aftermarket KTel/Halfords/Poundshop reverse kit...

If anyone here buys it, get a LOT knocked off and contact me for a set of original style wheel trims.

Now, here's a thought.

Rather than say our cars are advertised for too much, maybe we should encourage these prices. They are after all aproaching classic status, and a car in this condition is a real rare gem.
What if we say it should be a £5K car, and a standard average car is £1k - £3K?

We will never see a true worth of the 800 and it being a desireable collectable if all we say is that they are worth is crap plus a few quid. This is also encouraging other owners to strip thier car for bits to sell as it is worth more like that.

Everyone that has been in my Coupés has loved the pants off them, and can't believe they are such a cheapo car. This sentiment was echoed widely at the NEC with everyone I spent time chatting to.

Even my brother a die hard Audi and Volvo 850T5R owner was won over at the NEC and by being in my car.

In my experience, "Rover People" really tend to keep values down by comments such as "HOW MUCH?!". Case in point was a 216 GTi that I had for sale this year. There was a whole thread on that owners club forum going on about how high the auction price had got but without meeting the reserve. Needless to say it met the reserve, the car sold and they were proved wrong.

Whilst I think this car might be a bit dear, given what it is and that mileage, it's not bad! But let's all stop talking values down and then wondering why suddenly most the cars have been run into the ground and there are none left.

Exactly the same debates occur with TR7's

People don't want to pay much for them and don't, but then say why are the values so low as they are a classic car

Thanks for your approval.

I like to think that my Coupés are worth a couple of grand each at least. To replace with a similar specc'd car from another maunfacturer would easily cost that much.

I think that this was the car which for sale in Dorset earlier in the year for £1995 on car and classic. I think they also have the 10,000 mile Mk 2 white gold sterling which sold on ebay for approx £2000 then went to The classic car auction nr Kings Lynn and i think it sold for about £3300.

As much as I have 800s in my blood, values of ALL cars are low. Whether a Senator, Scorpio, Renault Safrane/25, Citroen XM, Vel Satis...any of these can be bought for 500 to 900 pounds.
No longer an 800 owner!

Apart from a few models, big cars always tend to become very cheap because people worry about the running costs (mainly fuel). Look at the XJ40s that I bought about 3 years back - one for £250 and another for under £200 (despite having an LPG kit fitted). Yet tidy Metros are worth 5 to 10 times as much.

I don;t know about the others but any XM or XJ40 is nowover £1K if its worth having.

What something is worth is what someone will pay. Price and value are different: price is what you pay but value is what you get. Hope that does not sound too convoluted.
