200,000 miles should easily be achievable for modern cars - 120,000 is nothing! :) The seller's valuation is another issue.

However, at 120,000 a Triumph Spitfire or Morris Minor would be heading for its third rebuild (and an 825 KV6 for its 5th)

Cayman blue is a great colour

No tax as I was doing the rear hubs for the MOT and because the tax ran out and I had nowhere to keep her off road, the cnuts clamped her. Luckily I got the ss exhaust, alloys and other bits before she went.

120k is nothing, especially as it had a rebuild 1000 miles ago. My kv6 was on 160k+ when I bought her!

If it had cream interior and he would drop a couple hundred £ off that would be a bargain and possibly tempt me to deal with the wrath of the Mrs later. ;)

120,000 is too much if not maintained properly.
400,000 is about right if over maintained and used daily.
No longer an 800 owner!

You lot talk in telephone numbers...

I look for the one owner, hardly any miles cars
Quite often owned and very well looked after by the older gentlemen
Sometimes been washed more times then driven...

However it doesnt mean the KV6 Headgasket wont blow, out of the blue :(

Soz, but these cars are rare, being picky and choosy about the car, spec, mileage, its owner, service history whether its been washed more times than driven just aint realistic anymore. Its not hard to turn a car around from being hanging to being mechanically in fine fettle and looking presentable as a couple of serial Rover 800 buyers/enthusiasts have proven so many times.

I got my KV6 for free, it was hanging presentation wise when I got it, there was no service history or nowt. But I've managed to get it in a fairly presentable condition, I still have a way to go before its at the stage where its in completely fine fettle but I know I can get there. All it takes it time, a bit of elbow grease, probably a bit of money and patients.

Low mileage cars aren't the be all and end all of motoring, the notion of having buying cars with full service history/polished every week and garaged all its life is a bit 1990s. I've got 1990 827 Sterling (identical to the one on ebay at the moment) with low miles that detonated its own engine recently and I remember Richard Moss mentioning an ultra low mileage 800 he had once that did something similar because it had never been driven over 30 mph/never got to running temperature or something, but it was a car that was polished every week and garaged.

I would rarely touch a low mileage, sunday best car as that is the type we have always had problems with. As Brad says, a car that is maintained and used daily is my first choice no matter how many owners. Low mileage cars tend to have problems when you then try and use them too much and they are not used to it. I remember My Grandfather buying a low mileage auto car years ago and the kick down had never been used. when he did use it the gearbox said goodnight. As far as I am concered mileage means very little if it has been properly looked after.

The only exception I made was the wife's ZS td, that had 47 miles on the clock at 5 years old so slightly under average mileage.
