It looked passable last time i saw it in the Aldi car park in Brandon but then the bumpers were from a Nightfire Red car and hadn't been painted Vomit Green!

Just for fun i might turn up there in my Jeep tomorrow and feign interest in it - then explain there never was a VDP model in the 800 series and the idiot that painted it greeen needs neck-shooting!

Double checked on Googlemaps it was the one i thought it was and it's 5.7 miles or 12 minutes drive or an hour and 3 minutes by public transport from me! No wonder people won't use public transport!
Anyway, looks like i'll use £1.50's worth of gas and go see this beast.

Well i went to have a laugh - err a look at this coupé only to find it has been sold already! Apparently a dealer near Ipswich turned up with a trailer and paid £650 for it. My guess is he'll repsray the bottom half in the correct colour and have it up for sale for about £2000 in a few days time.

Probably finally seen by an MOT tester who didn't feel the need to mention every single thing which passed his or her eyeballs 'just in case'.

There does seem to have been an outbreak of common sense recently - overheard a couple of testers discussing advising on a non-working nearside rear fog light, and the conclusion was "what's the point? It'll only p*** them off, and it's not testable anyway". Instead they were just going to mention it to the customer in case they didn't know.

I wanted to give them a round of applause.

To be fair, the overwhelming majority of testers I've ever come across have been top quality - I've got no complaints, but maaaaaaaaaaaan I've seen some stupid advisories in the past.

True enough but if you look on the advisories from about 2 years back, most of them are known trouble spots on the 800 as a whole (although some points were just picky!) and things like weeping shocks, knackered brake discs, dodgy front lower ball joints etc shouldn't have been ignored - we all know what happens when the bottom ball joints fail! I think it was Tim (WhiteLion) that had one go during a holiday a few years back on his blue coupé and posted a photo up - ruined the wing, not to mention the tyre and his holiday too!

Just rechecked the MoT history and it's not been retested yet, i think the buyer will paint it then put it up for sale for about £2k with a new test on purchase - time will tell i suppose on that score.
