As far as I am aware, no 800 models were ever used via a CKD system here in New Zealand. All were all brought in fully assembled.
New Zealand Motorcorp last assembled a few of the Rover SD1 Series 2 models, and then solely focused on Honda car assembly.

Graeme was this a factory in Nelson that orginally did a lot of work for Standard-Triumph in the 60's??

I've have bought a rover vitesse silver 4door classic no 260860 registered 20/09/1999 is this near the last to be built have I got a rare car it's now in Northern Ireland was reg as v103dpg I have 3 other 800's

It's in very good condition I am the 3rd owner there is 60k miles full grey interior the man I bought it off didn't know it was turbo charged so that's my forth 800 in my garage and the wife is ok about them lucky me

Tis indeed a car almost certainly built on the last day of production on the 17th September 1998, the last chassis number was 260898 which was presented to Gaydon as the last of the line and never registered. Sold by Gaydon at auction a few years back, its whereabouts is unknown to me.
On the database I have the following late numbers-

Or at least that was the state of play when I last checked, probably a year ago now.

Many thanks it's good to know I've rover that's part of the 800s history anytime I see a800 near by i always go a look at it so under rated we have always had rover 800s in the family since early 90s we have also 93 sterling h/back auto 96 sli 2.7 saloon 93 825sd saloon they all have ther wee qwerky faults but what cars haven't :-)

I am now in a position to list production totals for individual models for the Mk2 registered in the UK between September 1991 and September 1998( which will include the cars sat around and registered later on).
I stress this is UK registered cars only and numbers some 75792. There are also a handful of UK registered left hookers, a number of which were registered to the Armed Forces but I shall leave these to one side for now.
Deducting 75792 from the total of 123595 MK2's built also confirms that 47803 were sold overseas, I do not have an individual break down for these cars and the UK figures won't really give any clues either as certain overseas markets have very different automotive tastes to UK buyers, for example Europe favoured Diesel cars long before the UK and the 2.0 litre Coupe sold a lot better in Italy than it did here due to their tax laws.
I have to confess that many of these figures are quite surprising, especially how few 800 Coupes were registered in the UK, especially the 2.0 litre variants, you can make your own minds up. These figures are accurate, they came from a Rover database, I'll start with the saloons, then fastbacks and finally Coupes and list them low spec to high.
