Body kit for 1986/7 800's

Crikey. I didn't realise they were making body kits as early as this. 3 years before the Tickford.

I found this flyer on e-bay and thought it would be quite nice to have as part of my archive.

There is a picture from a magazine article from 1988 of one in motion which I posted up last year which can be found here but its not as early as the one above.

Oh yes .... bro in law had a full bodykit from new on his 825 (I'm talking Honda C25, not KV6)...... everywhere the kit was attached (self tappers, mainly) was rusting within 5 years.

The proper TWR kit had the same fittings as the original Rover bumpers so no rust there. I think the side skirts also had clips so no drilling required. The ones in the leaflet certainly look like TWR ones (apart from the skirts) so I wonder if either TWR copied that or Auto engineering licensed the design to them (or TWR stole the idea  )

The skirts fitted with the TWR kits were screwed underneath out of sight. Though into proper fittings it still introduced a weak spot.

Some of the bumpers were not fitted as well as you'd expect either, I've seen a few with very ropey looking brackets.

I suspect the better more OE types came later after they realised the kit was popular?
