Manalishis Lexus GS300

Post by Manalishi » Sun Jul 29, 2018 12:47 pm

I just have to make a statement here.

-I am allergic to noisy cars!

So 2.5 years ago we decided to get a more silent road car than our precious Honda Accord Tourer.

This is a 2005-6 with one previous owner from new, when we got it it had Done 50.000km from new, so 5000km per year. Crazy. We got it for about the same as a 6-7 year old Golf would be so the decision was simple.

And my God what a car it is. Dead silent, pretty good power with a 3litre V6 of 250hp and still deacent on fuel! And that is the reason I post this now is our trip yesterday to our lovely west coast. 600km one way with one stop for breakfast. The fuel consumption was at 6.8l/100km until the last 200km which needed some more overtaking of lorries etc. A total of 7.0l/100km is really excellent for a fully packed 1800kg petrol car with 4 persons onboard!

I love it!

Impressive, that makes for 40-42 MPG?

Can't go wrong with that.

Nice GS model Henrik! I'm a Lexus fan and I think they make some of the nicest diesels. I would definitely consider either a petrol/diesel if I was looking for a comfortable reliable daily driver.

The new RC is one of the best styled cars to buy today and somewhat underrated too. I've only seen one on the roads so far.

Maybe its not an enthusiast car, but for the daily ass transporter I really only want comfort with reliability and the Lexus is really good at that. Obviously there Will be examples of them breaking down but the statistics are what they are. A great car!

And as an additional nice thing comes the sound system. Really pleased with it and as I am a part time hobby musician, the sound is really important!

Some good economy figures there Henrik!

I have to confess, if the worst ever happened to my Sterling the Lexus would be on my shortlist, probably the LS, an early 400 would be my choice. That or a KA9 Legend, the 96-04 3.5V6 that looks pretty similar to the LS400.

Similar reasons that you cite for buying your GS300 - comfort, quiet, economy, reliability etc. Now that i've added extra sound-proofing to my Sterling it's more or less as quiet so i'd want something similar to replace it with. Hopefully that day never comes!

Glad you're enjoying your Lexus anyway! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Came home yesterday. The figures were 7.3l/100km back home which I think is really good.

Our 17 year old daughter is complaining some about the leg room in the back (175cm tall) so even though the room is quite ok I’m planning my next Lexus, an LS600h executive. It has folding rear seats and video screens coming down from the ceiling. And as my daughter is learning to drive, my plan is to spend future long journeys in the back seat! :D
No just kidding. An LS600h is a bit too steep..! But you are allowed to dream!

That works out about 38mpg Henrik - very respectable, especially for the size of the car!

You have a very tall daughter! Trouble is, with her driving and you in the back, you'd be suffering the lack of legroom! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Actually no Dave, as I intend to use the seat opposite of the driver. So I will look at the latest Mission Impossible (no 12 by then) on my video screen, tilt the seat, sip champagne or scotch and just enjoy.

Ah, got it all planned out then! :D

Are you going to make your daughter wear a uniform and peaked-cap like a real chauffeuse? :P
