That hearse is in Weston-Super_Mud i recognise the old swimming baths in the background, the photo's were taken on the sea front.

Taken today. The Senator is being used in a film being made about the Royal split in 1992 between Charles and Diana.

This car has now earned its money in the film and was sold today...I may regret this as it's the best Senator I have owned in 21 years and 5 models. I bought my first in 1988 (3 litre CD) and always missed being without one...daft...

so, how does a Senator compare to a 800? both are huge boats equipped with every possible comfort gadget ever invented. Actually, if I hadn't bought the coupe, I would have gone for a 2nd gen Omega since all senators are almost dead where I live.

About the rot...my dad had a '93 Astra, salvaged a seat and the battery from it, the engine worked like a clockwork, but there wasn't a body any more to speak of.

The 800 and Senator are very different. The Senator is meaty, East End, tough and solid. The 800 is softer, quieter, less exciting but more refined and cossetting.

Both have similar build quality but I would argue that the Senators probably rot a lot more readily than the Rovers.

The Senators are similar to Granadas, if a comparison needed to be made. They are publican's cars. The Rovers are pub inspectors cars...

I sold the 2.6CD to a well known musician with a very famous wife back in January 2009. We have kept in touch and tonight he told me the car was stolen a short while ago from Birmingham. It was recovered from Wigan and has now been repaired. It still needs some minor bits fixing but he says it really needs to go to a better home - he has some other cars and I think little time or space.

I have asked if he might sell it back to me. These are great old buses.

Good luck in getting back Brad, they really are nice cars. Unfortunately due to be loaded down with my self-destructive Sterlings, I've never got around to properly trying/owning one as there are few cars I wanted to try out.

I just wish they were bigger - especially in width. Like the 800, Granada and Audi 100 cars from 20 years ago, these 'big' cars are now as big as a modern hatchback, really.

Imagine the road presence of these cars if they were S Class/LWB 7 Series sized.
