Thanks Jim - that link goes to a page of about half a dozen different bushes, can you remember exactly which ones fit the original "D brackets or are new brackets needed? (Again there's several choices of brackets as well!)

Thanks again!
Cheers,
Dave

I know your pain with mountain bike brakes! I've got a pair of 4 pot Hope brakes on mine with a 203mm front disc and 183 rear. Stops perfectly and modulation like you won't believe, but keeping them aligned thus quiet is proving nigh on impossible!

You need the brackets and bushes, I got mine from ebay, they have gone up slightly since then.

Spot on, I think caliper alignment is my problem on the bike, it seems to glaze the pads and discs, after a few weeks there is no bite just lots of noise, rear is fine.

The old Vitesse emerged from the garage for the first time since about October last year and got its first road test on the new set up to the MOT station, everything worked and to that point nothing loose or fallen off, MOT passed which is always good.
I forgot how noisey it is inside, not so much engine and exhaust but creaks, knocks, rattles and the sticky tyres picking up everything on the road and sliinging it at the floor and inner arches all exaggerated by the lack of any soundproofing.
The rear suspension is definately to hard for the road but the Gaz shocks on minimum setting are a better match for the 600lb springs than the Leda shocks at the front on max setting with the 1600lb springs, not entirely Leda's fault as I uprated since they were rebuilt, on track will be the proper test.
One problem though is the Eibach extended wheel studs I fitted at the front, it appears either the stud or the nut has a damaged thread and seized.
When I got the car back home I retorqued all the wheel nuts, 15 were fine but one cracked before the torque wrench and spun I can now spin the nut and stud by hand. It feels like the stud splines have spun in the hub flange, the nut must have torqued up on the iffy thread rather than clamping the wheel.
I now have the problem of a seized nut on a loose stud, I cant remove the nut or the wheel so need to either drill or grind the entire nut off the stud without damaging the wheel or try and get to the back of the hub and grind the stud from there, I am not looking forward to this. I just hope its the splines stripped off the stud rather the hub flange bore the splines bite into.
Despite that it was great to have it back on the road breifly and drive again.
cheers
Jim

Congrats on the MoT Jim, pain in the neck about the wheel nut/stud though! Hope you get it sorted! :D

Dave

Cheers Dave, had a good look behind the wheel for access, there is no way I could do anything without causing some damage. So attacked from the front.

This is the seized nut.

Image

Plenty of tape to protect my refurbed wheels from grinder slips.

Image

No going back now

Image

Shortly after the picture above I was able to remove the nut with pliers, get the wheel off and tap out the stud.

Image

Was not as bad a job as expected, I have ordered another stud and run a tap through all the wheel nuts just to make sure it doesnt happen again.

It was just the thread section at the top of the stud and nut that had picked up and seized so once that area was removed as in the "during the operation" picture the nut spun off easily, so yes I was fortunate in that way, could have been worse, cheers.

As said before a very cool topic this one. To be hones i am more a fan of originality but seeing the quality in how you upgrade your 820 and enjoy it on the track (seen great clips on YT) makes me really appreciate this! Well done! :D

Thanks Marc, I had bit of time on my hands this week, a new camera and the sun was shining so took the Rover out for a spin and got some pictures. The first one is inspired by one of your shots, I climbed up onto a tree stump to get one of those "Marc" high shots.

Thanks Dave, one day with a bit of luck the owner of that plate might appear.
