@ mercade: thank you! The verdict was that both cars shine in their own way. They were very impressed with the build quality of the Saab and it's ergonomics. But they just were "breath taken by the low, sporty, sleek and impressive Rover 800". They dit found the Turbo engine of the Saab to be very cool and beastly but also loved the creamy 827 V6.

Going back to my late teens, when these cars were new, the SAAB 9000 turbo was a beast! Here (in Sweden) they were, and still are, regarded as among the fastest family cars of that era. If somenone had a 9000 turbo people would drop their jaws and sigh out loud. Looking at this test it's really interesting to read about the Vitesse that has similar performance. The Rover was totally unknown to me at that point, they didn't sell here and British cars were (and still are) regarded as being very bad, regarding build quality and performance. Oh how wrong we were!

I can make direct comparison between my own Vitesse to my late fathers Audi 100 he got new in 1987 as we kept it until a few years ago. The Audi was a better (more quiet) car on the motorway at +75mph but the Vitesse wins every other comparison, hands down. And it feel nice to know that my own Vitesse with it's manual box and an additional 10bhp from not having the cat is even faster.

Thanks for that insight in the Swedish point of view! Really interesting to read. In Holland, Saab is considered dependable and wel build car. Fast is not the name they have but deserve. Because Saab's were so expensive here, you never saw young people drive them. Not helping the sporting image they so deserved. That said, nowadays young people do chase after Saab for there power. The truth always comes out.

In this test I am biased ofcourse. I really prefer the more character full design of the 800. You feel more special in the Rover. Also what the reporter stated. It is not as well build but Rover 800 is more s classic feel.

This was to nice not to share some pictures here.

For us, the Rover cars are a bit like pets. So 20 may they had to join us for the big day! 19 may i collected the flowers an brought my, then future wife, to her parents. Then, my best man and me decorated the cars.
Picked up the flowers with my wifes Mitsubishi Colt:

After the special meet we drove to the location and took some pics.

Then we hide the Rovers for the guests so we could make our entrance:

After our arrival we were allowed to have the cars parked outside all day so they could be a part in a way:

The day after, still woozy from the big day before i took some nice snaps in the sun:




Then headed home. The Rovers were loaded with gifts, clothes etc haha. But that is one of the great tings of them. A lot of room!:



Don't worry, there were also pictures taken from the wedding and not only the cars haha. was a great day and now of on our honnymoon! Bye!
