Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Another small detail added to my 827 Vitesse! A sticker in the engine bay.
Something bigger that i wanted to do/have done for quite some time.
The interior of my Rover still looks pretty good but the floor mats were looking worse and worse to my eyes. Not bad but they were green and also not original. The last thing is no real problem but they did not fit properly. Especially if you look at the front mats were they are under the dash. Should be better.
I knew wat i wanted.
I made some paper molds that i could send to a company.
But the colour. Rare nowadays. Some companies that i contacted said ''good luck''. Then i got a tip. A company specialized in older car interiors named Bentons. The person i talked to was confident that they could help with my demands. So i posted the molds and a description what i wanted.
The company searched the colour and i could choose from some samples. I choose the middle one.
In the making.
Today they arrived! They will look so good in the car!

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Very nice indeed Marc!
I think RImmers have some LHD mats left at sensible (for once) prices, admittedly they're for the later Mk2s (no cut out for the fuel and boot release levers) but might be an alternative for "everyday use" and keep those you've just had made for "best" and shows etc :
https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-EAH102670LOY
At that price it would almost be rude not to!

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Thanks Dave!
I did know about the mats at Rimmer Brothers and they are nice but i wanted sometimes fitting for my Vitesse. The price is very low indeed. Maybe good idea to use them if the weather is not nice.

That's what i was thinking Marc - keep those you've had made for best and use the Rimmers ones for bad weather and/or everyday use.Marc-827-Vitesse wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 8:29 amThanks Dave!

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Even when winter is still around i took the chance after 4 month's of storage to wake up the Vitesse. One turn of the key an vroem. To be sure, i used a brush after he drive to remove possible dry salt.
The chrome strip above the windscreen also looks nice in the sun.
The new badge makes a difference i think!
The custom made carpets look so good! Really happy!
Of course i made some nice pictures!
The exhaust looks great, the new badge makes a finishing touch but removing the rear mud flaps is the best improvement i think.
One of the nicest butts in automotive history!

Superb as always Marc! Better weather there than we're "enjoying" at the moment!
Love the Dutch word for "vroom", adding the "e" to make it "Vroem" makes it more evocative of an engine doing its stuff, even in English!

@ TomSaintJames: Thanks. I am very proud of my VItesse!
@ Dave: Thank you Dave! Hehe yep that is how we say it.
Something funny must have happend when i posted this. How many times do you see my last update if i may ask?
When i did this update and clicked ''submit'' it did not post. After that i did it again but without the word ''vroem''. I forgot to use it the second try. You say you see it. The post that i can see does not show the word vroem. Maybe something happend to the forum? Or i just made a mistake.

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Last weekend there was a show in The Netherlands called ''British Cars and Lifestyle''.
At the beginning of last week i was asked by the Rover Owners Club Holland if i would like to have my 827 Vitesse at the club stand. Of course i said yes!
First i cleaned the engine bay again to make sure it was squeaky clean. After the clean i used spray wax for the bodywork and a preservation creme for the black parts and hoses.
Cleaned the interior.
Of course i washed the car on the outside again to be followed by a spray wax, trim restorer on the black trim and tire shine on the tires.
Friday morning i drove it to the show location were it had to be lifted to the first floor were the club stand was. I arrived clean!
Waiting for other club members to build the club stand.
Saturday and Sunday the show.
Lotus Esprit.
Lotus Excel. recognize the taillights..
E-Type 2+2 3,8 liter. Un-restored only resprayed.
Jaguar XJS V12 Lynx.
Jaguar XJX V12 coupe.
Morris Oxford. Restored by a friend of mine.
Triumph 2500.
The Rover Club stand consisted of four cars. Rover BRM.
Rover 75 V8 with 300.000 kms.
Rover P6 3500 V8.
And this is how my Rover Vitesse was displayed.
Sunday evening it was time to head home again.
