Yesterday it was time again to value the Vitesse for the insurance. The insurance value has gone up again. Nice that it is properly insured. The man had seen the Vitesse on the show last weekend and loved it really much.
Then it was MOT time. Emission test was perfect. Still very clean!
I always walk under the car when i have the chance. Shiny shiny!
Ofcourse MOT was achieved without advisories.
Then i brought the Vitesse to a mate so that major maintenance can be done. I will tell more later.

Ball joints were done a few years later wen i got the car.
Yes timing belt and the adjacent parts Will be changed. Not major imo.

Yes indeed Marc - the maintenance you're planning, i'm intrigued! It sounds from your last post that the timing belt, water pump etc will be done as part of it all so looking forward to the reveal of it all!

I'll look forward to that Marc! Don't forget to use a new tensioner spring, although they're not used after the intial setting of the tension, they do stretch into the "tensioned" position so aren't good for re-use. You can re-use them once if you're lucky then replace but to be on the safe side, for the cost of the spring i'd say replace each time.
Of course, if you bought a new tensioner, then it should come with a new spring so won't be a problem!

My 827 Vitesse was spotted at the British Cars and Lifestyle event by a British journalist and he put it in classic car weekly!
As said, the Vitesse was given some maintenance and a repair.
Repair:
Fan control panel replaced.
Maintenance:
New timing-belt
New tension-er
New waterpump
New external belt
New cooling fluid
New engine oil
New engine oil filter
New brake fluid
New oil sump gasket (was a bit sweaty)
New valve cover gaskets (were a bit sweaty)
New gaskets side-cover engine (precaution)
(All the gaskets were ordered from the states)
New spark-plugs
New fuel filter
New air-filter
New battery (the previous one was old)
New battery had to be a Lucas.
The greasy stains had to be washed of.
Finishing touches! I had the ''close the bonnet'' sticker reproduced. German language because my Vitesse was sold new in a German part of Switzerland.
These stickers (coolant change and brake fluid change) i found in the papers of the car. Gives it a nice touch. Because the stickers are quite old, i used heat resistant glue to aid the adhesiveness.

Snowfoamed.
Panel gaps cleaned with detail brush.
Cleaned wheel wells.

Rinsed of with water.

Washed again with wax removing soap.
Rinsed of with water.
Dryed.
New wax layer applied!
Shiny like a mirror!
After the maintenance i noticed greasy fingers and spots in the engine bay so i gave it a proper clean again an sprayed on a wax on the engine bay.
