Great press photos you've taken there Mark. Nice to see shots of the two cars together reflecting the different design and thinking.

Now the big question is if you had to choose only 1, which car would you keep?

That is like asking someone which child he prefers! I can't choose because they feel like my cars.

Very nice Marc - best of both worlds! Had 7 SD1s of which 5 were V8s, never managed to get the VDP although i did manage to get to a 3500SE.
The 827 is a worthy successor in my eyes although there is and always will be something about an SD1 that just gets gets me. Having seen all the work you've put in on your 827 Vitesse, it's nice to know both cars are in very caring hands! Long may it continue! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Hey thanks! Wow that is a list you got right there, 7 SD1's. My plan with the 827 and SD1 is not to sell them ever. Yeah the 827 is a very worthy successor indeed. Smooth, fast, boulevard ride and stylish charming design. Lovely classics both of them.

That is a very nice compliment thank you. :)

Last week i received an e-mail from the organizers of Youngtimer Event. This event is for cars between 15 - 40 years old. There was a concours for with the theme ''big luxurious barges''. They choose my Rover 827 Vitesse to stand along side a great De tomaso deauville, Talbot Tagora, Jaguar XJ, Alfa 164 USA version and Biturbo Renault Safrane. Pretty awesome because there were about 500 cars there and only 6 were chosen to stand inside the museum. Proud to be the owner of this British classic. :) Prior to the event i treated the Vitesse with clay bar, Meguiars wax, and a Meguiars spray wax, cleaned the engine bay and treated the plastic with plastishine. Ready to shine on sunday 22 may. :D

That is brilliant, your Vitesse looks so proud sat there with such rare classics.
I like what you said earlier in this thread that you will keep your Rovers forever, I feel the same, especially now they are so rare, even over here.

Jim just said almost exactly what i was going to say except despite the high standard of the others on the stand, yours still seems to shine just that little bit more! Quite an achievement!

Interesting to see the Talbot Tagora, haven't seen one of them for ages! Quite an under-rated car when it was new, never owned one but i've always thought of it as being what the Alpine should have been.
Cheers,
Dave

@ 820Vitesse:
Hey thanks! Yeah it was very special for me. I remember when i was a little boy and visiting car shows with my parents looking at cars standing behind barriers, polished and admired by people. And now my Rover is standing in that place with people all over it. So proud of the Vitesse.
Yes indeed i am keeping the Rovers forever. :D They really became a part of me. Your 800 is stunning as well. You should never get rid of it. Enjoy it and thanks again for your message! :D

@ scoobyh123:
Thank you as well. :D Yeah the polish is great. When a fly lands on it, it wil slide right of.
Yes the Tagora is a very special motorcar. It had done just over 25.000 km. Amazing! But funny enough there were two of these at the event and only one 800. The organizers were amazed that only 15 827 Vitesse's are registered of which only 5 have valid MOT.

I think the Tagora sold better in Europe than it did here and by the same token, the 800 in general sold better here than Europe. With that in mind it's a surprise there were only 2 Tagoras there! Only 25000km from new? That is something like 15000 miles, nothing in the great scheme of things!
Cheers,
Dave

I can't remember seeing Tagora's in the streets. I believe they were rare all over Europe. And yes it was just 25.000 km sins new! :D Amazing car and a very friendly enthusiastic owner.

Great pictures Marc, the SD1 would be my next choice if I had the space and money. I have a V8 itch that needs scratching and a Vitesse the same colour as your brothers(I think) would do very nicely.

Just looking back at your photos, didn't realise you were so tall, must be over 8ft :D

Hey thank! :D
Yeah my brother has a SD1 Vitesse in targa red (brighter red than the Vandenplas's chique oporto).

8 ft tal. No i used a ladder to make the 827 Vitesse and 3500 VDP photo's. I am still quite tal tough. 6,8 feet.
