@ Dave: on one side it is but on the other side it does feel like the right thing to do. Preservation. Yes i hope so!
@ Lodein: thank you so much! I am very proud of it. Yes you are lucky indeed!

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Winterprojects!
I received a cool gift from my brother; fender guards! Look cool don't they?
I put them to use straigt away because i wanted to work on some little things under the bonnet. On these places i found some surface rust.
Left side. I used a dremel with a wire brush to clean it all:
Right side:
Masked up and applied rust preventive primer on both sides:
Then applied new sealer on both sides:
Both sides normal primer so i could apply colour:
Colour:
Clear coat on both sides:
Result will do fine. Little colour difference but no sharp transittion edges and it is rust free and protected again.
Left side:
Right side:
I will put cavity wax behind the pannel and in the seems.
Also a new car cover for my 827 Vitesse:

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Great work there Marc! Hope it is warm in your garage, has been below freezing here for a couple of days now so any paint would "bloom" here!
Nice car cover too!

Your brother's gift is top. Where did he find it ?
Your motor is beautiful, and with the good job you did, your engine compartment is perfect.

@ Dave: thanks!! I used a hair dryer to heat up the panel and the spray can. But it is not that cold. Thanks!
@ Lodein: thank you! We found it at someone who collects Rovers and Rover items. He wanted to sell it yo me because he knew my 800 and me. My brother paid.
Thanks again!

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
More winter projects:
After the last work i did in the engine bay i decided to remove the paravan (is that how you say it in English? ). I wanted this because i saw some pine needles in the cavity and i wanted to check the state of the bodywork inside.
As you know, the paravan on Rover 800's are quite susceptible to rust. Mine was very good already but on the rear i noticed some minor rust spots. So, start working! Was always planning to coat it with good fresh paint anyway.
First i removed the minor rust on the rear to make it ready for rust preventive primer:
Rust preventive primer:
Normal primer:
Semi gloss black:
Then i worked on the front. No rust here but i sanded it all down and applied some primer on the mounting holes to give some body:
Then semi gloss black:
After this i asked my colleagues to apply 2k clear coat in the spray booth. No problem they said!:
Afther hardening and drying i applied the rubber strip again:
All ready to be put back on the Rover. I repaired some parts with 2k glue:
On the body below the plastic parts i found some surface rust. i removed all the rust:
RUst preventive primer:
Normal primer:
Colour:
Clear coat:
When this all was hardend and dryed is started working in the cavity. Fiiirst sucked out the lose dirt and pine needles with a special nozzle. After this some whet rags to further clean:
In the cavity i did found 4 minor rust spots. To be sure i did my best to clean the steel. After this rust preventive primer was added!
Normal primer:
Colour:
I only post pictures of two spots or else i have so much photos haha:
I know that most peaple will not look inside this cavity but i want to know it is in goed contition. Afther this i sprayed t clear cavity wax:
All nice and clean and new stickers on some holes:
Then i could put is all back together again:
Looks pretty fresh!:
The paravan has more shine than new but i like that. I like it as well that it is more protected now!

Beautiful job Marc,
I repainted my scuttle panel last year, but I didn't look at the other points you did.

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Some very, very nice work there. Makes a bit of a difference when you have a garage. I don't and both mine are just in the street. Difficult to do anything sometimes. And mine are daily drivers; well one is...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Thank you very much!
You are very right indeed. A garage that is heated makes my life much easier. And mine is not a daily so also there it makes it easier to keep it good.

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Most of the work i did on the leather still looked fine but the major tair came back. THat was my own mistake because i used a small piece of leather to support the back of the tair.
When my parents got rid of their Chesterfield sofa i was allowed to take a roll of leather material from it. Nice quality for fixing my seats:
Now it has more body to it and i used very good glue that stays flexibel:
Filled up the height difference with a smaller patch of leather:
THen sanding, degreasing, filler, sanding, degreasing and colour dye. It looks a bit wet and stainy here because it was still drying:
After this i applied a sealer to preserve it. One day the seats will be reupholstered.
