That's the kiddies Charles, yes. That set you found are in Oldham and want cash on collection so is a bit of a non-starter for me sadly. Only really need one though, without a tyre and preferably in reasonably good condition.

I was gonna suggest if you were interested, I could collect and store for you. Oldham isn't too far away for me, and I tend to travel to Manchester more often these days.

That's a very kind offer Charles, thank you very much! Let me think on it as it's all very well you collecting them for me but somehow i've still got to get them back here. Suffering brain fade at the moment anyway so not much is making any sense!  :D

Thanks again for that kind offer as well Charles - after a lot of long, deep thought i've decided my best bet would be to get a single wheel as a spare or at least if it is a set, somewhere close enough to collect within about an hours drive.
Looking on Gaggle Mops, Grantham would be the nearest to a mid-point between you and me and that looks to be about 90 miles from Keighley and also from Lakenheath - that's quite a way for both of us!

At the moment, unless i want to pay £65 for a single wheel, the only one around is this one :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Excellent-Vo ... 3182079009

Big benefit of that one is it includes free postage, so no worries on collecting/delivering or whatever. It's the same size, offset, PCD as the others, just looks a little different. The tyre is still wrong but will be ok as an emergency spare until i find a part-worn of the same make etc as the main tyres. :D
Cheers,
Dave

No problem Dave! This sounds like the better option as you say, and hope it works out. 8)

I received my new 3D printed bumper brackets (many thanks Mark) and they do look and feel very good quality.

I took the rear bumper off the car with the aim of removing the old brackets. As you'll see in one of the photos I encountered slight problems with the rusty screws. So question I have is, whats the effective method to remove? I had wondered about drilling them out. Using an angle grinder seems extreme.

I did manage to usefully spray coat the bumper bar with wax oil. I have to say though its held up really well in the 5/6 years since Brads very liberal use of paint protection. :D

I'd try some WMP Charles - 50/50 mix of acetone and synthetic ATF. Shake it well and then dribble/spray it onto the screws, sealing it up afterwards. Needs shaking before each use as well.

Once it's worked its magic on the screws, use a good Pozidriv screwdriver, preferably one where the blade goes all the way through the handle. Set the point of it in the screw head and give it a tap with a hammer, turning slightly anti-clockwise as you do it. If you can get behind the panel to get some WMP on the back of the threads, do that as well.

Once you get the screw moving, go back and forth with it so you're alternately tightening and loosening, applying a bit more WMP as you go. Takes time but is almost guaranteed to get the screws out in one piece. :D
Cheers,
Dave

I bet that works far better than WD40 in a spray can. :D

It does indeed! I mutilated an empty carb cleaner aerosol and fitted the brass body/valve core from a tyre valve into the bottom.
Then removed the valve core and used syringes to fill the can with ATF-U followed by the same amount of acetone.
Refit the valve core and stick 120psi of compressed air in it. Shake and squirt! :P

Most aerosols use 250-260psi of propellant pressure so 120psi isn't a problem. :D
Cheers,
Dave

Great uses of ingenuity, did the spray work on first try?

It certainly did Charles! Still does in fact. The only one that didn't was the previous WD40 can i tried, the rubber or whatever in the spray valve isn't resistant to acetone so blocked up.
That's why i picked the carb cleaner aerosol as a donor can to use. :D

I guess, failing this I would drill out the screws.. but I'm prepared to try anything at least once. :)

Give it a go Charles, hopefully you'll be lucky! If not, i'd suggest a Dremel or similar to grind the head off the screw so you've got a bit of thread to clamp some Mole grips onto and turn it this way/that way to get it moving with more WMP on the threads.
Cheers,
Dave
