If you have a look at this view Phil, you'll see them there, near where the front and rear manifold pipes join together :

Image

To give you a couple of points of reference, you see the top half of the front manifold sitting in the foreground? Look on the front pipe just above where the EGR valve goes on the front manifold, that's the front Lambda hole, now look at the centre manifold pipe then above it onto the rear downpipe and you should see the rear Lambda hole.

Just means adding some electric string (wire) to extend the OE wiring to the Lambda sensors. :D

I'll probably put on a new spare EGR valve at the same time for good measure.
The manifolds are going through Customs Clearance GB at this time.☺

On all of mine Charles (including a couple of spare inlet manifolds i have) the EGR valve is actually on the inlet manifold with an "Air Admittance Pipe" between the exhaust manifold and the valve.

Assuming yours is the same, i'd say if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Only a matter of time now until your manifolds clear customs and land on your doorstep - still possible you'll be able to do the job this weekend! :D

Dave

Did you need to extend the cable for the EGR valve to reach the inlet manifold?

I'll double-check but i'm sure the only valve is on the inlet manifold, just a hose on the exhaust manifold - how they came from the factory and the same on the spare inlet manifolds although i noticed today, one of those has a blanking plate instead! :D

Ah I see, I thought you had changed the location of the EGR valve but thinking about it, the EGR is in the same place on the inlet manifold of my coupe.
I noticed the design of the EGR fitted to the Legend series 2 looks similar but the multi-plug is different so I doubt that would be a good replacement if it was required. Fortunately I managed to find an original Rover one brand new on EBay for a spare, but like you say I don't need to replace the existing one. From what I can see of the existing one is, it's leaking slightly but this has no impact on the car that I can tell.
The problem with EGR values is there is only one way of testing them; by doing a pressure test and I don't have the means to do that.

No, not me! It's where it was when it left the factory and one of those things that if it works, LITHA!!!

In English LITHA is :

Leave
It
The
Hell
Alone!

Honda/Rover did a nice job of designing its placement on the inlet manifold. Most other manufacturers put the valve itself on the exhaust manifold where it is subject to all the extremes of heat where it can corrode and/or fail through the excessive heat.
This thinking was reversed nicely by putting the valve on the inlet manifold - much cooler so much less likely to fail. Look how many Vauxhalls, Renaults and Nissans these days have EGR valve problems!

I double-checked the two manifolds i have, one has a blanking plate and the other is missing the valve - just hope i never need one!
Cheers,
Dave

I see your EGR valve holes now.

I would be interested in seeing how it fits and sounds. Currently got a Powerflow stainless on the 2.7 coupe. However when I finally get round to getting the 2.0 Turbo into the garage for its engine and gearbox rebuild, I am considering trying the Piper Performance stainless on that as when i bought it, it came with 2 different cat to pipe fittings.
It does sound very good on the Turbo. Nice and deep and rumbly.
I'm keeping a record of fuel consumption in the 2.7 at present.
It's not happy reading as most of the driving shorter, and more 'spirited!!'

Phil - have i understood your post correctly and you're thinking of putting the Piper Performance exhaust from your 820 turbo on the 2.7?

If so, don't do it! I had one on my Coupé, 2.5" O/D pipe all the way through and it sounded good but droned like hell at cruising speeds, made the engine absolutely gutless and thirsty. If mine wasn't Piper it was Mongoose but very similar and now resides under Toms (traineefarmer) R reg Vitesse Coupé and the deal we did was basically he would find and fit a standard system for mine in exchange for the stainless one for his.

Long story short it works and sounds fine on his and the standard one on mine transformed the car! I used 2 gallons of fuel getting to his and only 1 gallon on the way back but i was driving a lot faster coming home!

Maximum diameter on the 2.7 is 2" unless you've done other mods to the engine and aren't bothered about fuel economy else it'll just be noisy, thirsty and gutless.
Cheers,
Dave

As for the manifolds I bought (or headers in US terms) I noticed a delivery was attempted on the 28th, according to the tracking info, but I have had no note through the letter box and the tracking info doesn't state address delivery details, or when USPS may attempt to try again :?
The USPS (United States Postal Service) website isn't the easiest to navigate either and contacting seems a tad longwinded having needing to do so now.
I'll be checking for a tracking update later and be in contact tomorrow, since luckily I have the time then.
